I have a CHI, but I am wondering how ya'll use your flatirons, and why you use it that way? Thanks in advance!

** also what flat-iron regimen do you use.. what protectants or process?

I just flatiron the new growth or just the roots after i rollersest to get my curls to hang a little better, I don't do this very often though, def less than once a month. I use Silken Seal as my protectant.

I do the entire length and I curl it a bit.

Since I have been airdrying my hair, I do need my flatiron.

I put silicone or Silken Seal on my wet hair, let it airdry and then flatiron.

I do that twice a week.

I flat iron the whole hair. I do this once a week. I use either Vo5 Miracle Mist or Nexxus Heat Protexx as a heat protection. I also use Aveda Brilliant serum for protection while I am flat ironing.

I mostly Miniglide (or Maxiglide) all through my hair but I pay particular attention to the roots, tho....

We have the same hair type...:) I love your hair pictures. How long can you stretch using heat once a week? Do you get heat damage? I wanted to do this to help me stretch the 4 months, but it turned out I was able to think of a lot of no heat styles. However I was thinking about going 6 months, but use heat on the last 2 months......

Wow girl you rhair grows beautifully and fast.

Um, I don't usually call what I do a stretch. I usually relax every 6-8 weeks like clockwork. I can't stretch because it's just not good for me. my hair is thriving this way too. It's the blowdryer who's my enemy:ohwell: But if I flat iron once a week I can make it to 8 weeks.

Right now I am stretching past 8 weeks since I am using no heat this month at all. I am just washing and slicking my hair back into a silk scarf and wearing a ponytail. With NO combing except to detangle my wet hair (twice a week) and moisturizing everyday. I want to see if I can retain any more length. And if that works for me i will do this starting every 5 weeks post relaxer and continue until about 9 weeks.

I do only the roots after a rollerset. Since I'm texlaxing now, the part that's not on the roller is always puffy once it dries, so I do it to get that part smooth. I also flat iron the entire length if I airdry, but I haven't done that in awhile. I use Silk Effects Heat protectant.

I do my whole head, once a Week (flatiron or curl)
I use Garnier Fructis SLeek and Shine Serum or Kemi Oyl

I do all three methods, depending on the style.

If I rollerset, I'll go over the roots with the iron. My sets come out too poofy.

I also use it to straight and/or curl.

I have a Solia.

:)

I don't flat iron I press, but I only do the newgrowth. In general, no direct heat touches my relaxed hair.

I do a rollerset and then blow the curls out a bit. Then I Maxiglide about 3/4 of the length of hair using the steam option. I do this anywhere from 1 to 2 times a week. I use Jane Carter Solution Wrap & Roll with Cantu leave in on the ends.

I don't use a heat protectant b/c all of them have silicons in them. I DO put JCS scalp oil (on my scalp) and Nourishing & Shine on my ends before I wrap. (after flatironing)

I'm trying to 1) NOT blow the curls out prior to MaxiGliding, and 2) cut down to 1x per week. (I HATE the smell of my dirty hair, and not oiling my scalp is NOT an option b/c it's so dry and flaky otherwise).

I have been noticing some splits lately, but I hurt my back recently and didn't wrap my hair every night. I started again tonight. I wish I could skip the flatiron, but it reverts lickety split without it! (And it can be BONE dry outside and it STILL reverts...WTH?!?)

I use it down the length of my hair but I really should keep it to newgrowth only. I leave it longer on my newgrowth and then quickly go over the rest. I try not to do it more then once a week.

I use my flatiron with the FHI Hot Sauce heat protection/moisturizer. My hair has been so much better since I started using it again.

I love this stuff. I wish it had a pretty smell. That would be GREAT! But, it is nice that it does not have a bad smell though. I need to whip this again - I only used it 2 or 3 times. I have an entire bottle of that I got free from folica and a person I bought something from on ebay sent me 5 packet samples of it.
