Relaxed Hair Update

{Sorry for the long post} I read the post about “Naturals that went back to relaxing, any regrets? And I was glad to see that most of the people replying have been on LHCF for years. Because even thou we visit this site regularly, we still encounter hair problems we thought was only allowed for newbies.
Case in point - I thought I knew all I wanted to know about my hair, however, in the past 4 years, I’ve over-processed my hair using Phyto Index II, cut it off and wore braids for 2 yrs. 8 months. Relaxed on 6/12 using Index II and realized that I was not making any progress because my hair does not like relaxers. Even though I relaxed ever 16 weeks, my hair couldn’t take the relaxer. I cannot handle natural hair, therefore I decided to use Phyto Index I and I think I’ve solved my problem. It does not get my hair straight, as a matter of fact, it looks natural. To get my hair straight, I run the flatiron over my hair and viola! I’ve been this method this whole year and I am glad to say, finally, my hair might be turning the corner. I now believe I might achieve the length I’ve been yearning for for the past 10 years, healthy, collarbone length hair even-all-around:dance7:. My edges also seem to be growing. It did not get thicker, but hair seems to be growing.
I did not post any Fotki pictures because I was not satisfied with what I was seeing. Now that I’ve noticed a difference, I will update my Fotki. I promised myself that I will not wear a ponytail until late 2014/2015, so I will not be taking any length shots. I will however take pictures of how I currently wear my hair, how it looks wet and when I have Henna applied.

Figuring out what our hair needs is so challenging at times but it's so rewarding when we finally figure it out. Wishing you the best....

I'm glad that you figured out what works best for you. My hair def prefers to be texlax. Even though I never had any real issues with bone straight hair; I just prefer the texture better.

I LOVED my bone straight hair, but my hair is too thick for BS. The strain on the line of demarcation was too much after 6-8 weeks even though is stretch to 10. Texlaxing is just a better option for my hair because of strand size and it's working better for my hair health overall.
