:look: OK, this opinion of mine may not be very popular here, but imma just say it. I love this forum and all, and umm, I know all y'all are being mighty honest here about this woman's video, but IMHO I think you're all probably being a little harsh on the poor woman. I know it was her prerogative to post a youtube video, and fair enough of OP to be leaving a comment of critique on her video page, but then posting on this board for others to bash her seems like taking things a little far. All I'm saying is, I would hate to be that youtube woman and then see this thread, that's all :nono: But to each their own, eh?

She's unwilling to listen to others who know true facts about relaxing. I don't care what she's saying. She is selling the same lies I've heard my entire life.:grin: I think I'll pass on this one.:ohwell:

Ugggckk!! Listening to her voice almost made me bark a bit in my mouth! Her ignorance on black hair care is saddening and pathetic. She hasn't even taken out the time to conduct real research. And I also had a chance to look at her other videos and she is just as ignorant if not more, on them as well. She needs to start loving herself and her culture and stop making a complete fool of herself.

The most pathetic part of her videos: She's dead serious. What a joke!!

No bashing intended but she does not seem to be open to discussion on the subject hence why she is making a fool of herself.:yep: If someone made as misguided a statement on this forum I would also state my opinion. Also as you correctly state it was her prerogative to put herself on broadcast on youtube which therefore leaves her open to discussion.

She made another 9 minute response video saying the same thing. Your hair will "go back natural" if you let it grow out. And talking about how the majority of black people have nappy hair.

OK, I agree that her video does have plenty of misinformation, but some of it does sound quite right to me, just worded really wrongly. If she brushed up a little it would be a decent video.

See her most recent response video she basically says the same thing again despite being corrected by other you-tubers. She clearly believes that she is right and we are all wrong on this point.

This youtuber particularly shocks me because she potentially represents all the mis-informed black women out there with poor hair practices whom do not subscribe to LHCF. I also thought at age 13 that my hair could just revert back because I did not understand the chemical process.

The point I am trying to make is that so many blakc women have jacked up hair because of mis-understanding of chemical processes and youtubers like this are NOT helping period. Hence why I think it is important that we respond to badly held assumptions such as this. It's dangerous to all the teenage girls out there watching.

I didn't read this entire thread but I jus wanna know who in here ever got a retouch every 2 weeks? I stopped the video when she said that lol

These kind of videos make me very angry. Sometimes I feel like there should be a 'Proceed With Caution' sign with some of them. She said do your research before commenting, how about you do your research before putting up a VIDEO for everyone to see? At least comments can get put behind by pages and pages.

What kills me is that she honestly believes she's right with all her misinformation and is taking the time to inform the public via YouTube. She didn't make sense throughout the whole video, it was full of contradictions. What I somehow seemed to muster and gather overall from her statements is that as a relaxed head I should just relax my whole head from root to tip every time my new growth starts sprouting in hurdles. If I did that, no amount of protein, moisture, ceramides, or EVOO could save my hair; it may delay the rate it breaks off but all in all my hair would break off eventually.

Also I'm kind of sick of hearing people saying that their hair is shoulder length, it's really long, and that relaxed hair can grow because they are proof just because they've reached SL. I'm sorry if I offend anyone but I'm sick of people bragging like they've got the longest head of hair out of all black people just because it's reaching their shoulders. These people need to come on to LHCF and get schooled. With that said, I think the true test of long hair is when it's reaching BSL+.

I did NOT like her Michael Jackson comment. You don't know him personally and you don't know for sure why he did certain things in his life so just let him rest in peace, jeez.

I didn't watch the whole thing.

IDK, I think that maybe she understood what she was trying to say, but that maybe the message was not conveyed clearly as she would have liked. Some people, myself included, feel almost a bit nervous when they are speaking in front of a camera (even if it's just for youtube) and so may not communicate effectively. I think that if she would have written herself a few quick notes before she started filming, she would have done much better.

From what I did watch though, she seems to have contradicted herself a few times. I am thinking that her own personal experience with permed hair has misled her. As someone else mentioned, her relaxed ends probably just fell off after a year and so she simply believed that it had reverted.

Whatever the case, I don't think I will be taking hair care advice from this particular young lady. Not to be mean, I just would rather have info that seems to make sense and is more clearly explained. :ohwell:

I understand that her points don't have much of a point...but I don't think we should remark on her speech and mental capacity. Someone already pointed out that she has Crouzon Syndrome and this explains it:

http://ghr.nlm.nih.gov/condition=crouzon-syndrome

As someone who also has a genetic condition, I'll ask that my LHCF sistas please stick to what was said in the vid without commenting on the young lady's physical appearance or metal capacity. Thank you.

:thatsall:I am toooooo threw. She is serious about this too. Does she realize that what she is describing IS the new hair growing out. Not the relaxer disappearing. Oh my.

All this time we've been calling it "new growth" when we should have been calling it "old growth"

Why?! Why?! :wallbash: I feel so stupid!

:giggle:

I cringed everytime she used the word nappy which was quite frequently :perplexed. Now more than ever I cant stand hearing people use that word especially black folks or thos of "african" descent :wallbash:. Everytime I hear it or any other negative comment/thought about our hair I want to send them to this website. I've even been considering making business cards with the website on them  .

:look:
she looks like a dinosaur :perplexed

I'm just joking :lachen:

I'm trying to figure out why she spent almost 10 minutes saying..

"Listen, people. A relaxer relaxes our curl, a perm curls straight hair but all processes can be called "perms" The reason a perm is called a perm is because the process permanently changes the hair that it touches and processes. You cannot wash out a perm. It won't permanently affect the hair that will grow out, that texture will be your original texture, just the hair that is has already touched."

I mean, now she's agreeing with people stating the process like "that's what I was trying to say."

Did she really say "you can't change your DNA...a permanent cannot change a black woman's genetic makeup"...I didn't know i was trying to relax my genes. She needs to stops using those big words before her brain explodes! :lachen::lachen:
