Which wrapping method do you prefer?

I think if folks are going to do the traditional wrap it might be best to occasionally change the direction of how you wrap your hair. Just so you're not continually putting pressure on one side.

I have been doing the regular wrap for a while, but I alternate sides so I don't have thinning issues. I looked at the cross-wrap tutorial a while back and wanted to try it, but my hair was too short (I'm growing out layers). I might try it again today..it does seem easier. I think I'll try it tonight.

I did a regular wrap for a year straight and I always wrapped from left to right. Here's the result of that:

My left side is completely see-through. I had started to wonder why the right side of my head seemed to be longer and thicker than the left side. I stopped doing wraps once I joined the board and found out the reason for the uneven hair. Once I hit shoulder length, I'll attempt a cross wrap. If those don't work, I'll definitely be alternating the way I wrap at least every other day.

I CROSS WRAP and achieve the same result as regular wrapping! Over a period of time, regular wrapping caused one side of my hair to become limp and thin. I use to wrap in the same direction, unaware of alternating sides. If you prefer regular wrapping, then I'd suggest alternating the direction of the wrap to avoid possibly thinning.

I just straightened my hair, and I will be trying cross-wrapping as soon as I get home. :yep: I was always so tired of once side of my hair looking perfect, and the other side looking a hot mess...

I have straight hair this week. I never know how to wear it at night to keep it looking nice. I am a failure at the regular wrap. Gotta try this.

I've always regular wrapped but I will try cross wrapping now. My sister does it and she's been getting monster-growth. Thanks ladies!!

I have tried cross-wrapping a couple times, it worked out better when I did it dry but wet was not good look at all

When my hair is straight I do 4 big pin curls. My hair really, really doesn't like being wrapped, no matter how straight I make the roots.

I used to do a regular wrap, but after a while I noticed that the hair on one side of my head was visibly thinner than the other and the only thing that could have caused it was wrapping, so I've been looking for a new way of keeping my hair straight at night. I can't rollerset to save my life, but after seeing the link above I tried cross-wrapping last night and it worked brilliantly!! Will definitely be cross-wrapping from now on!!

for me i actually do both for different reasons

when i flat iron, i do a regular wrap because i feel like it just gets my hair straighter. but after the 1st nite i do a cross wrap to maintain the style. its lest stressful on my edges, easier, and i dont end up with a cow lick lol

I've had the same problems with the regular doobie/wrap as some of you ladies: my left side has become extremely thin and much shorter than the right side. I tried cross-wrapping and it was cool....the only thing I don't like is that it leaves a gap in the back of my hair (where i parted it) and it makes my hair look more flat. I feel like the regular doobie leaves my hair with more body. Also, when I saw the gap in the back I started getting worried that I might experience the same breakage in that area that I have on my left side. Are there any ladies who've had breakage in the back of their hair from cross-wrapping?
