I'm steppin' up!

Hi everyone. Today is the day that I begin my hair journey. I've been lurking for about 2 months now you know, getting advice and learning the lingo. I just became a full member today because I wasn't sure how committed I was to this journey. Frankly, I didn't think it was possible for "us" to grow long hair unless it was hereditary, I know shame on me for thinking stereotypically ignorant. But you ladies have given me the inspiration, hope, tools and skills that I deem necessary to guide me through this journey. I've got a long way to go so it's good to have traveling companions.

I've bought MTG (burnt bacon) and BT (lovely). I'm starting today. Here's my proposed regimen...let me know what you think: MTG once a week, BT 3 times, no-poo 2 times, shampoo every 10 days. I think I'll try to baggy overnight on the MTG days and the shampoo days. I'm currently wearing a phony pony and thinking about get braids (not-too-tight-cornrows into a pony) this summer.

And of course I'll try to get in my 64oz and find a good vitamin.

Ok...here goes!

Great? Make sure when you baggy to use an ouchless tie or if you don't have one on hand wrap a rubber band around a bag and punch a whole in the bag and roll the bag around the rubber band so it will be covering it but you still can stretch the band to put your hair into it.

What kind of moisturizer and conditoner are you using?

BTW, weren't you so happy when you found out that black women could grow long healthy hair and not be a weave?

Welcome aboard! I think if you are going to use BT or MTG, you may want to add a clarifying shampoo to your regimen. I know BT can build up and make your hair dry. HHG:)

Thanks all for the welcome!

Chica - Yes too happy and a little ashamed that I even thought that black women couldn't grow hair like that. I'm not sure what conditioner I'll be using. I did order the MTG conditioner but haven't heard too much about it on this board.

Bella - thanks for the tip. I see you use Suave clarifying, how is it working for you?

I hope to have starting pics soon.

Any moisturizing conditioner, even a cheapie should work well since it would be able to penetrate more since you are relaxed.

I like Suave. I usually follow up with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner.

Welcome, girl!!! Glad that you decided to join.

Well, never used MTG, but I am a BT fan. You must incorporate clarifying shampoo into your regimen, ok?

Blessings to you!

I co sign on the suave conditioner, or if you want something a little better, I am the poster child for yvesrocher phytum nutrition conditioener.

They also have a clarifying condiitoner called Pure .
