Sorry ladies...I attempted to post this as system maintanence was being performed and I guess the text of the message was lost. Anyhoo.....

After all of the amla oil prepoo raves, I did my first amla oil prepoo last Friday. I applied it to my hair and sat with the heat cap on for about 20 minutes and then took it off. I left the oil on overnight and washed and conditioned in the morning. I noticed my hair looked darker but really didn't pay it much mind under dim lights, but I did decide to break a rule and flat iron it and wear it out. I went out to talk to my girlfriend next door and she said Wow! When did you decide to dye your hair black? Of course, I said I didn't and brushed it off. My husband came home shortly after and said what did you do to get your hair like that? Okay so now I'm worried. So I decided to go look under some bright lights. All of my pretty red highlights are gone! My hair is JET COAL BLACK!!! I'm not liking it at all...it's just tooooo black. I had no idea amla oil could do this to your hair. I know it's supposed to gradually darken and prevent graying, but it looks like I dumped a bottle of jet black dye on my head. I liked how henna had gradually darkened by hair to a dark brown/red, but this is YIKES!!!!:whyme:Anybody had this happen? Any idea how to fix it besides dyeing???!!! :cry3:

I think clarifying would help.

That's interesting. I've prepooed with amla several times and have never had that happen. What brand did you use? because I would not mind darker hair.

I wish mine would get darker. I didnt notice a change at all. Which brand are you using??

I just purchased the Amla Oil from "From Nature With Love" because it is unscented. It's very golden brown in color. I dont think it will turn my hair dark at all. I was using the Dabur Brand at first (the one with the dark haired lady on the bottle) I didnt see any color change.

Maybe a good clarifying poo will help you out.

I use the Dabur Brand, it darkens everything but the grey hairs.:look:

That's the brand I've been using...and I actually just finished it. Maybe mine wasn't fresh? I'll get another bottle next week and check it out. To tell you the truth, I was noticing today how light my hair looks and I hennaed a few weeks back with amla in my henna mix and prepooed with amla at least 3 times since then...

Seriously, I would not mind if it darkened my hair.

I pre-poo with Dabur Amlo Oil and I've noticed that my hair has darken a lot too.
Maybe if you mix it with some evoo, your hair won't be dark....?

I have the amla oil that Hennasooq just started carrying. I haven't tried any others. It's not dark at all, but light golden in color. Either that stuff is super duper pure and potent or my hair is super duper porous. DANG!!!

Just so happens I did clarify on Wednesday night with Elucence Clarifying shampoo...is there something stronger but not damaging? I still look like witchy-poo!:perplexed

Lovin those hair pics!

The amla oil ultimately rinses [all the way] out after a few washings, if you decide not to clarify.

I hope that's true in my case, but I'm skeptical. I'm not talking about just darkening the hair...that's cool and usually gradual. I talking about stark black...unnatural looking...not soft silky pretty black.:ohwell: I'm due for my Aphogee tomorrow...maybe that will help...I don't now how, but maybe.:(

NO WONDER MY MOTHER KEEP'S ASKING ME IF I COLORED MY HAIR BLACK. I PREE-POO AS WELL WITH AMLA/ALOE GEL MIX, AND I HAVE BEEN GETTING LOT'S OF COMPLIMENT'S. I SUPPOSE INDIGO WILL NOT BE NEEDED.

DLewis your hair is ridiculous!!!!! I love it, it's so shiny and healthy. I am actually trying to run out the office to go get me some amla oil eventhough I have a huge bottle of "regular" hot oil at home:p

oh oh

didnt nobody tell you!?

i'm sure i mention it often!!
AMLA WILL SIGNIFICANTLY DARKEN YA HAIR!!

but after one application?! wow, thats shocking....i think its cos u used a heat cap hun!!!!

If I didnt just buy that FNWL Alma I would buy this one. I am sorry it's so dark on your hair! If it needs a home............:D . You might want to try the Dabur. It's only about 3 bucks.

wow i cant believe it darkened your hair so fast. i tried it one time it again and it didnt darken my hair, that was the reason i was using it. i agree with the others try a clarifying poo.

Sorry things didn't work out for you. I guess I don't need Henna/Indigo either. I love jet black hair.

I LOVE THE INDIAN PRODUCT'S I HAVE BEEN USING. I WISH I HAD DISCOVERED THEM 2 YEAR'S AGO. I HAVE RECEIVED MORE COMPLIMENT'S SINCE USING THEM THAN I EVER HAVE BEFORE, ONLY 2 MONTH'S. I HAVE USED HENNA, SHIKAKAI, AMLA & VATIKA OIL.

I LOVE MY HAIR BLACK, SO I WILL CONTINUE TO USE EVERYTHING....;)

And I was gonna put a rinse in this weekend...maybe I'll just get some amla oil instead...

I MIX MINE WITH ALOE VERA GEL AS A PRE-POO, I ALSO RUB A LITTLE ON MY HAIR ONCE A WEEK. NOT MUCH THOUGH, I CAN'T STAND THE SMELL. BUT IT HAS DEFINATELY DARKENED MY HAIR. MADE IT VERY SHINY AND SOFT, ALMOST LIKE INDIAN HAIR TO BE HONEST.
