Thanks you guys. I actually went to Sally's tonight and got some Aphogee Treatment (sample size).

Hey, soulchild

Did you use the Aphogee Treatment yet? I'm also experiencing a bit of breakage problems, and I just bought a bottle and the Balancing Moisturizer today. How did you use it and what were your results? I'm natural too and a little concerned about using such a strong protein treatment. Please share your experience.

Thx in advance

Its more like a cream but kinda liquidy. It gets real hard when u go under the dryer.

Hey there Miss Brown.

Well, I did the Aphogee Treatment 2 weeks ago. I was apprehensive about doing the treatment since Aphogee is so strong, but I had to admit to myself that the breakage was getting bad and it was long overdue. It was actually my first protein treament ever and I can honestly say my hair felt stronger after rinsing it out. The breakage has subsided for the most part.

I didn't use the Aphogee shampoo or Balancing Moisturizer simply because there were no sample packets for those products, so I used what I had. CON to shampoo and LUST mixed with Humectant to deep condition afterwards.

The smell of this stuff is horrible, but honestly I didn't mind it too much. Especially since this is a product that isn't used frequently. If I start to experience bad breakage I will be using it again.

I'm editing to add on that prior to the treatment I had almost no protein in my regimen. Now I have purchased GPB and I'm also looking for another mild protein conditioner as well. Hopefully I won't need to use the Treatment anymore. I'm kind of interested in the Two-Minute Reconstructor though.

I'm glad your breakage subsided, soulchild

I've been dealing with a bit of breakage lately too and after doing countless searches from the archives re Aphogee and natural hair, I'm trying to figure out if the Aphogee is too strong for my breakage issue (relatively minor, but still noticeable) and for my fine, tightly curled hair

Ok, so now for a few more questions:
1. How exactly did you apply the treatment (i.e. did you section your hair off first or just apply all over and push back or pile your hair on top of your head)?
2. Did you let it air dry or use a blow dryer or sit under a dryer? How long did it take?
3. Okay last one

After applying the treatment, rinsing and conditioning, did you have any problems detangling? I'm concerned that I may lose hair here since it's already hard enough to detangle my hair when I don't use a protein treatment

Thanks again.
BTW, responses from anyone else re the Aphogee treatment are also welcome, especially the naturals.

Miss Brown, definatley apply in sections!

I sat under a hood dryer with medium heat. I'm not sure exactly how long it took. You are supposed to wait until your hair's dry and hard. I think it took about 35 minutes. The inside took long to dry.

I don't think I had any more trouble detangling than I usually do.

I hope all goes well if you decide to do this. I feel we as naturals should be extremely cautious in using proteins. Have you ever used any other (less potent) reconstructors before?

Ditto. I keep having visions of this stuff freezing my fragile kinks hard and breaking them off even after extensive rinsing and deep conditioning. I just don't want to end up causing more damage than stopping it.

As far as reconstructors go, I haven't really used one this serious since I went natural (about 3 years ago). Lately, I've been using Got 2b Smooth 1 Minute Emergency Repair, which is a very light protein, but I need something stronger.

Have you ever used Nexxus Emergencee? It sounds like that may be as effective as Aphogee, but without the smell and the hair hardening effect.
