Can someone please make some recomendations for me. I have been experiencing some breakage lately. I need some kind of protein conditioner that is effective, yet inexpensive (broke college student

) I was about to pick up Aussie 3-Minute Miracle today, but for some reason I decided against it. I also have plans to get the Got2b So Smooth reconstructor, but I think I need something a little more stronger than that (not Aphogee strong though) And by the way, I'm natural

Any recomendations would be helpful

Here are 2 that work for some here: Aubrey Organics GPB, and Aphogee Protein Treatment, when you use a protein CON you must follow with a moisterizing one or your hair will be hard, like cholesterol Sally's has a big tub for for $5-6.

I recommend the Joico K-Pak (the brand, and not the Sally Beauty Supply knock-off). However, it is *very* expensive, but the best I have used to date.

Why not use sample packets from Sally's since they don't cost a lot and this type of product is only used semi-regularly?

I have Jerri Redding Protein Pac in mind - but you might (with the exception of the GPB) find amny of the recs you'll get her in a sample packet.

Another one I like which you could get the full bottle of cuz it's SO cheap and effective is HI PRO PAC. It's about 3 bucks for 4-6 ounces and again - you only use it semi frequently - so it's a good buy!

Tracy, that makes alot of sense, That's what I was leaning towards. I have never heard of Hi Pro Pack, I wonder if anyone else has anything to say about this?

Soulchild,

The Reconstructor is not as intensive as the "treatment". However, it does a very good job, I think, for mild to moderate breakage.

Give it a try.

Northernbelle, so the results from using Sally's generic Joico K-pak and the real thing are very different? I was planning on getting some of the knock-off version because I've had such good experiences with the other products in the Generic line.

What kind of moisturizing conditioners do you follow up with after the protein treatment? For instance, would it be okay to follow ApHogee (2 min) with Pantene Smooth & Sleek or Suave's Humectant conditioner?

I love it Tebby, I have been using it for a good 2 yeras now and its great at adding strength to my hair ! I dont mind the price b/c the bottle lasts a really long time, lasts for about a good year.

I cannot say if there is a difference between the brand name Joico K-Pak and the generic, given that I have only used the brand name.

Perhaps someone on the Forum who uses the generic Joico K-Pak can offer up some information.

I used HPP on a regular basis. I LOVE IT!!! It's cheap, it works, smells good and detangles like a dream. In fact, I just washed it out a minute ago and currently have St. Ives Vanilla & Edelweiss as a moisturizing treatment in my hair now. It's pretty potent as Hydrolyzed Protein is the second treatment so definitely use a moisturizing conditioner. The label says to leave it on for 2 to 5 minutes but I leave it on for 20 with heat.

A lot of people love to use Hi Pro Pac. I have some too. You can get it at any drug store like CVS or Walgreens. Hi Pro Pac is the name of the company that makes it.

Thanks you guys. I actually went to Sally's tonight and got some Aphogee Treatment (sample size). I'll look for the Hi Pro Pac some other time.
