Realization that less is more for my hair.....

Well, i just realized that after about 2 and a half yrs of trying to find the right product, right method etc. that less may be more in the end,, first off, i have given up on my search for the "right product", i believe there are many right products,, i have also given up deep con for and hour long,, I have also narrowed it down to only washing once every 2 weeks ( yes in the summer heat lol,, i dont sweat much, and ive been indoors mostly anyway).. I use Paul Mitchell daily moisture con and the hair repair treatment ( protein treament)and then a conditioner such as VS so sexy or joico moisture retention and i also ALWAYS braid it up after a wash,, this helps TREMENDOUSLY to get a moisturized flat iron ,,,, and i havent seen my hair HEALTHIER since i was a kid i suppose,, i have just simplified my regimen , i try to leave it alone... i think thats key... Also,, i do believe that the renewed health of my ends is due to the major 2 inch trim i did back in early May,, i had major damage and now my ends have remained in great shape,, barely a dusting has been needed,, BTW since i dont have recent pics,, I am at APL in front n sides and about 2 inches longer in back ,, anyway how many of u figured that a simple regimen is probably all u needed to begin with.....?

It took me more than a year to really "get it". I went through an obsession period, buying almost any new product hoping it was "the one". As you said, there are several that are great for my hair, but the less I do to it, the better it is. It is longer and stronger the less I manipulate and have my hands in it. My current style changes about every 4-6 weeks, but my hair thrives being in secured styles for that long. I just spray my scalp and hair with oil and go!

Isn't it freeing to know that you don't have to do SO much to have a healthy head of hair?

I agree simple is the way to go for me. I'm down to only a few products and not a cabinet full anymore. Although, I still have that cabinet full I only use moisturizer, shampoo, and conditioner no oils, etc. My hair is much healthier.

I have simplified my routine but still wanting that great line that I can use. I believe that just doing the basics and nothing more is what keeps your hair flourishing. For me...I still wash every 5 days. But only use heat once every 2 washes, I rock twists on the other days. I still deep condition (that has been my saving grace) and I still moisturized 2x's a day keeping those ends healthy.

Yep, took me YEARS to learn this too. Its not our fault, the product manufacturers are good at making you believe that you need a bunch of different products!!

O MY , this was me prior to this year,, there is NO miracle product,, i think thats the key that we need to realize and really save our money

I am a big believer in keeping it simple. I know when I was trying 50-11 products at the same time I wasn't retaining any length at all. Now that I have my key products I retain what I grow.

I agree with Sugarose, when I use my key products and be consistent with them I retain my growth. And my hair is much healthier because I am using less products.

This concept has me totally confused:(

My hair is dry and dull and crunchy if I only use a little moisturizer in it. If I only used the suggested amount of conditioner it doesn't detangle.

Somebody help me:confused:

When I say less is more, I'm not talking about the amount of product I use in my hair, I'm talking about 1 poo, 1 condish, a few moisturizers and that's it. Not 50 different products that I use on my hair at the same time.
