Real Hot days= protective natural styles

Natural ladies, I noticed when it is extremely hot my hair gets really dry when I wear it in my fro. I usually do twist outs during really hot days to protect my hair. Do you think wearing your hair out on really hot days is not good for it? ALso how can I do a bun? When wet my natural hair is long enough to put into a mini ponytail but the top always pops up.

It depends on how often you wear it out, your hair type in terms of fine, medium, or coarse, and what type of leave-in/moisturizer you use. Why not opt for a curly hair style like a straw set or something along the lines?

I am not the best with hair typing but I was told I am a 4a. I usually do conditoner washes in the morning and put in Nexuss leave in conditioner along with s-curl wave pomade, Barry Fletcher anti frizz spray.

For my wash n go I have been using Tresemme & S curl (this week anyway), and it stays suprisingly moist. I went into the bss yesterday and the cashier asked what I use because normally people's hair looks so dry. Twistouts and braidouts would also be great to try, I also agree with straw set reco. Have you tried a phony pony since your hair is not long enough for a bun?

I'm not familiar with Barry Fletcher products, but I've found that most anti-frizz products contain drying silicone and/or dimethicone. If so, that could be part of the problem. Personally, I've found that wearing my natural hair out too often results in dryness, so I opt for more protective styles now that the weather is hot. I now wear my natural hair free only one week out of three.

Thanks for pointing the silicone and dimethicone out. I didn't realize that. I checked my Barry bottle and it doesn't list those ingredients. It does say gycerin., herbal infused deioneized water and other natural ingredients. I noticed too that sometimes wearin it out is very drying. I may do twists to alternate the styles.
