Re-relaxing underprocessed hair????

So, I've been trying to be very in tune with my hair and figure out my hair's problem....And I realized it's me not taking my time. The last two relaxers I've put in my hair have been cheapie kinds because I usually use Phytospecific and the store is about 1.5 hours away and ordering online takes to long. So, impatient me just went to Sallys and got a cheapie box kind.....
So the first two inches of my hair is underprocessed. I recently noticed that I've been having breakage, and it's where my hair is breaking off at the demarcation line, about 2 inches down. Plus, to get it straight I'm using sooo much heat, I'm never going to be able to elminate direct heat, which is my number one goal right now.

Sooooooo, I'm thinking of re-processing these first 2 inches. I know it's really bad to re-relax, but isn't is also bad to leave my hair in this state, especially experiencing this recent breakage. Has anyone had to do this from a bad (or couple) relaxers, and if so, any tips?

I will try and wait until January 19th to re-relax, using Phytospecific, which is the best thing my hair has ever had. I can't believe I was so impatient and reverted back to those other brands. :wallbash:
Anyway, how horrible is it to re-process these underprocessed sections?

So did you use a no-lye box kit that left you underprocessed?

No-lye users, can you do a corrective on underprocessed hair that was done using no-lye?

I've done a corrective using no-lye but I waited 3 weeks before I did it, and I made sure to do a medium protein the week before. I also didn't leave it in for the full recommended processing time.

I actually underprocessed the last time I touched my hair up as well. But this time I just said what the heck, I haven't experienced any breakage so I'll just wait until the next regularly scheduled touch-up, so long as I'm not experiencing any hair breakage before then.

I underprocessed my hair the last time I relaxed as well (no-lye cheapie box kind). I haven't experienced any breakage or notice any damage but I will definitely re-process those areas during my next touch up this coming April (I'm on a 24 wk stretch).

Have you given yourself any protein treatments since your relaxer? I would think that this would help to strengthen the hair and reduce breakage. If you do decide to correct this, please be sure to protect the previously relaxed hair so that you do not worsen the problem. I hope this helps....good luck and keep us posted

Yes, the box relaxers were no-lye, as is the Phytospecific I usually use.
I think because it's been TWO processes, its getting to be too much and starting to break. I just recently noticed the breakage, as in 1-2 weeks ago.

I can wait until 3 weeks past, that would put me at Jan 15-16. I was thinking of taking this time off from work, as it's my birthday weekend! :)
I will do a protein (aphogee 2-minute reconstructor) treatment the week before as suggested, before a deep condition.

And I will most definitely use Phytospecific...no more straying from what works!!!!!
