Anyways I decided to do the bun thing this yr. I have been wearing my donut faithfully since December and DAMN IT, it works!

Its V-day and Im 6 weeks post relaxer with alot of growth, so I decided to straighten my hair with the back of a curling iron and my hair is soooooo much longer.. I just had to tell yall..

This is good stuff! Also since I have been doing the bun thing I have slowly stopped stressing about my hair. My hair rountine is second nature now and its days like these when I want to let my hair down I have a nice little surprise...

Well just wanted to say thanks!

I'm so glad the bun is working out for you. I think it's a great protective style. It sure did work for me.

I soooo agree with you. My hair has benefited from wearing buns too. I never in a million years would have thought that wearing protective styles would do so much good in terms of accumulating length. Wearing buns for growth has exceeded my expectations. I promised myself that I would be faithful to complete protective bun wearing for at least a year because back in June 2003, someone posted about another lady who had gained 8 or 9 inches within a year from doing this. Hopefully I will see this type of result as well or at least close to it

HLD-
I think you are referring to Yvette! I saved and printed out that thread

.It really got my pumped to do bun thingy full force. So far its good. Is bra strap your final goal? I see we are both close to that. I havent decided what my ultimate goal is, it varies day to day. Im thinking mid back..waist length might be too much for me

i am apart of the bun challenge as well, and it is wonderful, but i find as my hair gets longer, i wanna wear it out more....but i dont wanna set myself back..its very hard though!!

My hair is about 8 or 9 inches long so I put my hair in a french twist each day. This method is somewhat like the bun. The ends are tucked in from the air and it has kept my ends moisturized. I figure this is a bun for the short haired girls.

Oh no hun

, after looking at Adrienne's prgress, I decided I'd go for waist length. It may at first seem like too much, But I'll find a way to deal with it. I love long hair

. Also, this bun wearing has done something for me that NOTHING has ever done. For the first time in years, the front right side of my hair is touching my shoulders. I thought that I had stunted that growth for ever. Now I realize it wasnt true. I mean, no matter how long the rest of my hair got, that front right side was so darn stubborn. After I saw how protective styling fixed that...I was hooked. Yeah, I may look like a plain Jane these days, but it's all worth it in the end...

Bump

Lately, I have been in my hair way too much. When my hair got a little longer because of buns, I got carried away and wanted to style my hair in a different style everyday. I am going to get back on this challenge on June 1 because I really want to retain all this length.

The bun has worked for me as well. Im even wearing draw string pony tails sometimes which I thought I'd never do..they provide a nice change

Oh wow back from the dead..

Well I have been slacking too on the buns. I recently discovered that for me, any style that doesnt require a lot of heat works just as good. Lately I have been using a claw clip and my ends are fine, I do tie my hair in a bun when Im lounging at home or going to bed.. but no problems yet

I love my buns. I bought some plastic hair pins from tenderheaded.com. I adore these things! I just twist my hair in a loose bun, stick 2 or 3 of them in, and go

. When I'm in the house, I redo it, and put my satin bonnet on. Even now that I'm surging, it's been a lifesaver. So far, so good

The French Twist is my favorite protective style. It's so easy to do and can be elegant as well as casual

I put my hair in two big braids every day for my protective style. I undo the braids and let the natural braid wave out when i wear my hair out. Is this a good technique do you think?
