It's great to see the ladies here, whether natural or relaxed, falling in love with their hair. I'm in the process now. I'm almost 9 months into my transition and cannot wait to finally get rid of these relaxed ends. I LOVE MY NATURAL HAIR! It's so unpredictable and always changing...but in a good way.

When I first started my transition, the longer my hair grew, the more doubts I began to have. I missed my relaxed hair, it seemed a lot more diverse and easy to manage. I was tired of the knots, tangles, and inability to make my NG lay down. But now!! My hair has been changing so much over time. It is probably a combination of no relaxer, no heat, and no color (just yet). My hair is becoming darker, shinier, softer, and more easy to detangle. My scalp has finally returned to normal. I have no dandruff or rough spots. My sebum production is on point and my cuticles seem to be very much intact. I LOVE THIS! I don't even need a leave-in to detangle. It's crazy.

My regimen is so simple right now. I just wash with CON green or clarify with ACV. I do a quick condition with Tresemme VitE Conditioner, and I use no leave-in...don't need it! If I want to slick my hair back I use Elasta QP glaze...no longer Fantasia IC. I put on a scarf for airdrying and voila! I do this every other day. I know it seems extreme, but because of the sebum production, I have to wash more frequently. My hair is really growing, and no more setbacks cause by bad relaxers. My kitchen area is creeping down to bottom of neck/top of shoulder stretched.

Once my natural hair can be pulled into a ponytail, I will chop for good. But until then...I'm watching my hair become healthier and more beautiful each day! Only thing I have left to do is dye it black, it can never be black enough.

So for those of you who want to transition, but are getting discouraged. Just know that it is going to be very rough in the beginning, but just wait...because it will pay off in the end!

redRiot, I'm so glad you're happy with your transition! I just finished mine, cut off the last of my relaxed ends last week and I am feeling everything you said. I love my natural texture too and I can't believe I waited so long to transition. And I know just what you mean about no dandruff, no rough spots and no tangling. I almost never comb my hair and only detangle with a head full of conditioner and that way I have almost no breakage. I love it!

I hope you continue to find success with your transition. Seems like you have a great regimen so I'm sure you'll do great!

Congratulations!

I can tell how happy you are from your post. It's great when everything just falls into place.:)

Very nice post! I bet your hair is thriving from all of that tender loving care :D

I'm so glad you started this thread. I was just thinking today about how much I am beginning to love my natural hair. My texture has changed so much since I first started this journey (although mine was from constantly pressed hair to natural hair). But as more and more little coils and curls pop up in my hair I'm loving it more and more. And now that you mention it my scalp use to itch like crazy and my hair use to be very dry, but it seems that all of those problems have subsided. I'm so happy with my decision to let my natural texture thrive and I hope that the next big change I see will be length!
