LMBO in regards to the White people. At my old job we had a pizza outing and we played 2 truths and a lie and one of my coworkers, who was white, said she didn't buy a brush until last year. And we were all like that's the lie. But she told us that was a truth and she would always just run her fingers through her hair and she'd be straight. We died laughing.
As for me when I first started on my HHJ I said no more brushes. As time has progressed I've incorporated them in a few places. When my hair is straight I'll use a brush now and again to either wrap my hair or use it to smooth my hair for an undo if I'm not putting any holding product in it but I still want it to be sleek. If I want a well defined WnG I'll use my denman to spread product. I'll use my tangle teezer when I'm bunning to smooth the top layer and back a little. I also use it if I don't have the time to sit and finger detangle completely. Combs, I'll use to part my hair (usually only when straight, parting with a comb when I go curly makes it harder to hide the parts afterwards, to much touching which leads to all that frizz #GRRR) or wrap my hair when straight. I used to do a final run through with a comb after finger detangling my hair when it's curly but I've gotten so much better at finger detangling over the months that I don't bother to do it anymore.
