R.I.P my dear Maxiglide

I am sad to say that the one heating element that I have ever used on my hair since going natural died on me last night. I love the whole concept of using steam to straighten my hair... I guess being used by three different heads of naturals was just too much.

Before I run to the computer and order a replacement, I wanted to ask you ladies if there is another product that works as well as the Maxiglide without the heat damage and can handle 3c-4a fine and thick natural hair?

***Patiently waiting for your advise before pressing Buy Now***

This happened to me...my maxiglide broke and I never got it replaced because the new one I ordered (three times) kept ripping out my hair. My old fashioned (1st edition) maxiglide was perfect!!! But they had to improve the design..

Now I use my Sedu...which is so old that it's limping. I need a replacement. I'm just going to hold on until it gives up.

Maxiglide used to get my hair bone straight and I didn't need to use the steam side of it.

Maxiglide is THE BEST flat iron for natural hair. My MG broke on me about 3 years ago, and there has not been one that can replace it for me! Buy another one!

I'm devastated for you girl! If my MG broke, I think I'd just hang it up. I've honestly never gotten my hair straighter before I started using it, and I've never gotten it straighter using anything else.

Izunami flat iron...love it. It gets my hair straight in one pass at 300.

ladykpnyc Is this the product you use? The website said it is $209.00

Exactly...I use it for mine and my two daughters hair and each of us have different hair types and the MG gets all three of our hair drool worthy. I just wanted to make sure before I bought another one. Hopefully the new design is not as bad for us as it was for the previous poster.

What about this compared to the maxiglide?

BaBylissPRO TT® Tourmaline Titanium 1-1

Yes, I got mine from Ricky's for $119.00. It's was originally $179, but they had it on sale at the time. Check rickysnyc, it's $160. If you go into a store and become a member (it's free), they take an additional 15% off.

in a moment of PJ-ism I bought a maxiglide. have used it twice and don't get the fuss ... am I doing something wrong?

The teeth pull and tear my hair and the steam frizzes it. Right now it's in the 'donate' pile because I can't figure out how to use it and have my hair look good.

thanks!

My Maxiglide just broke also I am sending it back to folica for a replacement (Thank You God I am still under warranty), I bought the Conair Infiniti 1" Tourmaline and it is a wonderful iron for only $30 (its on sale a walgreens now) I can't believe how straight my hair is it is tooooo straight in my opinion. Try it until you can replace your maxiglide you will not be disappointed !!!
