I've only used it to prevent my flat ironed hair from reverting.
It's a slippery product but I wouldn't use it to detangle. It would be like pouring serum in your hair, so it would have to be rinsed out. Also, I could easily use a whole bottle in 2 detangling sessions.

You can add it to conditioner. They recommend doing that to seal in more moisture or something to that effect. I tried it that way and it did help with detangling.
