you've been using products like gels and oils in your hair? Is it unsafe to CW when you have all these products on your hair? You need shampoo for a problem like this right?

I don't know what you mean by "unsafe", but if you are trying to get product build-up out of your hair, you will probably need more than conditioner and water, depending on what products you've been using.

Nope...I've done it many times with no ill affects. I don't like shampooing my hair(unless I need to)...I'd rather CW. So I will do it with product in there with no problems.

But like Cichelle said...if you're trying to remove the product...then you should shampoo.

In my experience, cw-ing still worked with gels, oils, etc in my hair. I just rinse my hair until the water runs clear and then I apply my conditioner and proceed to "wash" my hair. If I feel I need a little extra somethin' somethin', I simply add an ACV rinse and voila!

Once I CWed after using a gel (that contained silicon and a lot other "cones") and my hair was still stiff and i had to use shampoo.

I use a clarifying shampoo to get rid of the product buildup.

I have no problem getting my hair clean with vo5 kiwi and lime conditioner, i usage of gels and oils.

Adding a little baking soda to your conditioner should help remove the product build up.

I find that co-washing works better for me when I have little to no product (other than leave-in conditioner) in my hair. If I have oil/grease on my hair and scalp, I need to shampoo to get it out, then I go back to co-washing.
