Hi Ladies,

I was wondering if any of you are doing conditioner washes...if so ... which conditioner are you using? AO is too thick and too expensive to use for CW.

Thanks!

I am using non natural conditioners, Pantene, Sensitive by Nature, Suave and VO5 for my hair.

i use suave, vo5 and other cheapie conditioners...i am able to get more with my buck...

most all natural products r gonna be expensive...

maybe u could try get somethin cheaper that has some good natural stuff in it like suave or vo5 or even herbal essences and try adding oils to it...coconut oil or olive or some essential oils..basically thats all AO or some of these other companies or doin...

I use AO because I have a list of things I don't want to put on my head everyday. If I cowashed less frequently, maybe I wouldn't be so strict about it. For me, it's not a matter of just getting something "natural" in my hair. It's about avoiding certain ingredients. Unfortunately, VO5, Suave and similar have the things in them that I don't want to use. :( As far as the consistency goes, it was an adjustment for me. But now I am very happy with AO.

It's true that it isn't cheap to use natural/organic stuff. But honestly, I spend less money now than I did before, partially because I can't buy my products from every drug store and bss. Kinda tames the product junkie. When you are avoiding parabens, for instance, A LOT of stuff you pick up will go back on the shelf.

There are other companies that make natural products. It just depends on how strict you want to be. There are J/A/S/O/N, Avalon, Weleda, Giovanni, EO, Nature's Gate, Alba,...just to name a few. I think they might be a little less than AO and the consistency might be more to your liking.

I know someone who got pretty fed up with searching for natural products, particularly conditioner and started to make her own with stuff right in her kitchen. Maybe you could try to find some homemade recipes?

Wish I could help more!

Ditto! :yep: I skip the cosmetic aisles at WalMart and I drive right past the Beauty Supple Stores. :driver: No, I'm not natural, but I'm in the process of taking inventory of all of my products.

I found with my homemade amla oil (dumped daburs after learning is was mostly mineral oil) followed by AO shampoo and conditioner helps my hair retains moisture for days. The result are much better than when I was doing daily conditioner washes with the other stuff. Now I only wash my hair 2/3 times each week. Like Cichelle, I refuse to use any products with certain ingredients.

Also, I lucked out because Vitaminshoppe.com had a sale, and I found a $10 coupon online, and was able to get 5 Aubrey's Organic products (1 white camellia shampoo, 2 WC conditioners, 1 honeysuckle conditioner, and 1 HS shampoo) for $26 total!! :D. Again I agree with Cichelle, it is actually much cheaper using only 100% healthy products because you don't buy as much stuff.

I've also been using homemade recipes: avocado-coconut milk conditioner; amla oil made from amla powder and extra virgin coconut oil; protein/deep conditioner made with egg yolk, molasses, aloe gel, and jojoba oil -- with much success. I am very happy that I made the decision I made. :)

Didn't mean to gush so much. I'm just excited by the way my hair has IMPROVED since making the changes.

oops you said natural...hmmm I also use elucence too. But not very often because I dont have the money to buy a replacement bottle just yet.
