How old were you when you got your first relaxer or texturizer?

Somewhere between 9-11 years old.

If you ever have children how old will they be (assuming you'll have a girl and you actually want to relax/texturize her hair) beofer she gets one?

Minus the assumption...Never....

...With the assumption... I dunno, it's hard to think about a particular age when a girl can start relaxing their hair... I don't see how anyone could approximate an age to start relaxing their daughter's hair.

I got my very first relaxer (had to consult mama) when I was 12. If I have kids and I have a girl Ill make her wait till she gets to high school. I was too young to be pressuring my mama into relaxing my hair. Neither one of us was prepared to care for it. BUT thats my family. I know soem people do it younger and I just wanted to know how YALL do it Heck I might learn something.

I was about six when my cousin (hair stylist) started curly perming my hair, it looked cute but i didnt realise i was so young! i've just looked at a picture of me from december 1988 (i just turned 6 and had a curly perm chin length cut...gotta talk to my mama bout that!)

Anyway, if i had a girl child i would NEVER allow her to perm her hair. if she reaches 18 then decides to do so then...

I think I was 10 or 11, because me and my sister were going to stay with my dad and she wanted to make it easier for him to comb our hair, which in the long made it worse, because he put a curl over hair... Talk about hair was shock for years...
I personally would rather not put any chemicals on my child/ teenager head and let her make that decision when she is 18.

I had my hair relaxed when I was 12 and it all broke off within a few weeks. My mum had to cut it down to about 2 inches. I still remember all the kids pointing and laughing when I went to school the following day.

I then got a curly perm when I was 14 (never had a relaxer again - much too scared!!!) I kept this for the next few years and my hair started getting really stringy and thin. I transitioned with braids and have been natural for almost 8 years.

If I had a daugher, I would never relax her hair. When she turns 18, she is able to make her own choices but I would not encourage her to relax her hair.

I was 14 (8th grade) when I got my first relaxer. I begged my mother for a relaxer after admiring a girl named Dana's hair in my class. After meeting Dana and her stylist mom my mother gave in. Dana's hair was beautiful. I dont have children but if i did, after my daughter turns 18 she can do as she pleases with her hair.

Oh yes, the second half of your question I forgot to answer.
I have no children, however if I had a daughter, I would NOT encourage her to get a perm/relaxer at any age. Being of mixed race (my husband being white), she'd probably beg, beg, beg.... I wouldn't want her to be miserable though. But unlike my mom, I know what to do thanks to LHCF...you're the best!!

I was 8 or 9 when I first got a relaxer, my mom did it out of convenience, my hair still thrived nonetheless.

If I ever have a daughter I wont relax her hair, as she gets older I will encourage her to stay natural.

I was 18 when I first relaxed. My Mom refused to put a relaxer in my hair, so I made the decision to do so once I graduated high school. I won't be relaxing my future child's hair. Once she hits 16 or 17, she can do almost whatever she wants with her hair.
