has anybodies beautician ever combed through their newgrowth with a fine tooth comb AFTER she's applied the relaxer? mine did this yesterday for the first time ever and she was very rough about it.
Yup, I have had it done many times in the past. That is how it gets the most straight. It is also quicker. It could also be the most damaging too. Did you have problems?
yes, and I no longer go to her. That method gave me chemical burns because the relaxer would rub across my scalp where ever she used the teeth of that comb.
Yes. A 17 minute application of Affirm mild lye relaxer without combing would leave me underprocessed. My stylist told me so when I read him that blurb from (October's?) Essence advising not combing the relaxer through the new growth. I underprocessed myself testing it, too.
My new growth coils are pronounced but tight so chemical and mechanical straightening is required.
I prefer to have mine combed thru. I used to go to a stylist who just massaged it with her fingers, and the perm would still take. I tried it myself and it didn't work.
thanks for all the replys. i didn't have any problems, except a little burning on my scalp. she's just never done that before so i thought maybe she was getting back at me for waiting 10 weeks to call her. (lol)
