Ok I know that this was discussed so many times before but why is mineral oil "supposedly" bad for hair again?
Thanks

Nay007,

If you do a search on: +mineral +bad you will get a lot of information.

Ok I just tried that search thing but it doesn't really work:( I get all kinds of results but the words mineral and bad are not even in that post. Oh well.
I heard it before too that mineral oil clogged the pores on the scalp, but I always used to love using baby oil on my hair. My sister does that too. The hair is always easy to comb when using it. And it smells nice. And now the most important thing: it doesn't break me out!!!!!:) I never had any bad experiences with it so I guess I'll just continue with it.

Also interesting to know, that mineral oil is also in most skincare products and it is just as "harmful" to your facial and body skin as to your scalp. But most of us don't have a problem with it. I use a mineral oil free formulation to cleanse with. But my skin is sooo sensitive.

The funny thing is that I used to break out on my back from moisturizing body washes as Dove, Olay, etc. But I can slather my back with any kind of baby oil or any other oil and my skin is sooooooo smooth.

nay, i agree that it's supposedly bad for the scalp but not the hair—kinda like the Vaseline. i think you can use as much as you want on your hair.

Right. I've always heard it's bad for the scalp and anytime I've used a product with mineral oil in it, it just sat on my scalp.
