Beauty IS skin deep.
I don't blowdry my hair (definitely not a fan) as I lose any and all moisture when I do this. So I always airdry unless it's an emergency. But I realized the next time that I need to blowdry my hair that I will need to know what to do to hold a curl. Right now, if I blowdry my hair and flatiron it, my hair will not hold a curl b/c it gets so dry. It has a lot of bounce and body, but no elasticity. What are you ladies doing to maintain a lasting curl after blowdrying and flatironing your hair?

I usually airdry as well, but there has been a couple of times I blowdried my hair...just 'cause :spinning: Or sometimes I blowdry when I henna.

As far as elasticity goes, I dc with Capilo's Avocado Conditioner. That really restores the elasticity in my hair.

I lightly blot my hair with a towel, where it's still a little drippy. I've found that the wetter it is while I blowdry, the softer/more moisturized it is. Beats me why this happens, but maybe it's the same reason why ladies rollerset soaking wet hair too

Anyway, I do a final cool rinse, then I part my hair in sections, and apply a little Fermodyl 619, which really detangles/adds mosture to my hair. Then apply a little CHI Silk Infusion to each section. Then blow the hair in one direction, hold the blow dryer above your head, and make sure your hair is blowing down, not all over the place. This helps your cuticles lay flatter, and gives more shine.

I've found that the type of blowdryer can make a difference. I use my friend's ionic blowdryer, and it makes my hair really soft. I also only blowdry on the cool/cold setting, never with any heat.

Sometimes I'll wear my hair out like this, or I flat iron it with my Maxiglide and bump the ends. HTH!

Blowdrying with a round brush can produce a curl that is set by the dryer, but that technique takes practice :ohwell:

Also, letting the hair airdry a bit before blowdrying helps with the moisture issue (also sealing with a good serum) and helps the style to stay longer.

small pieces too! I always flat iron very very small pieces... it seems to hold the curl better than when I grab big pieces of hair.

When I do blowdry, I never use a brush b/c my hair would get caught up in it, so I stay away from that. But thanks for the serum tip. I do have some CHI Silk Infusion and I've only used it once, so I may have a reason to try it again. Thanks ladies. The suggestions will be really helpful.

Just curious: What kind of brush were you using?

For body and that "bend" on my ends....I actually wrap it and leave it in the wrap for the whole day and until I wake up the next morning. It works great for me!

BTW....I LUVVVVV ur buns....u gotta tell me how u do it!! I'm hatin!!! :lachen:

I was using a paddle brush, then I switched to a round brush. Neither work for me.

Sorry, I wasn't clear before...I meant what kind of bristles on your round brush? I have 2 friends (different hair textures) that I blow dry fairly often and I find that the type of bristles matter...

Anyways, Chi Silk Infusion is the bomb. All-purpose and all-around fabulous product

LOL, I don't really have any particular style in mind when I get ready to do a bun. Mostly, I pull my hair back into a ponytail w/ a scrunchie. I then either twist it into a very loose ponytail and wrap around my scrunchie and fluff it out, or I just ball it up into one big mess and then fluff it out. I hope this makes sense:grin:

I have 2 round brushes. One with synthetic (those bristles with the plastic on the tips) bristles, and a natural boar bristle brush. The one I used to do my hair was the natural boar bristle brush.

I also have another question: what kind of heat protectant are you using? I have the Silk Elements spray and Redken Heat Glide. I only use the Heat Glide though when I'm flatironing after my hair has been airdried.
