How much hair do you need for a good sized pony puff? Not like a headband and a puff in the back but an actual ponytail?

Hi HoneyRockette,

I think the answer to your question is subjective (depending on the individual). I currently have (what I believe to be) about 6 or 7 inches of Natural Hair. The back is just now at the point where I could have a small ponytail but the front isn't long enough so I would have to use pins/clips/barrett/etcetera to get the front to lay down because it's not long enough to put into a ponytail in the back. I personally don't like to have to use pins/clips/barrett/etcetera if I want a ponytail, so I will probably wait until the front gets longer and I can just put all of my hair into a ponytail.

Someone else may not mind using pins/clips/barrett/etcetera and if that's the case then they would probably go ahead and put there hair into a small ponytail at that length if they wanted to.

Hope that helps.

I agree, I just finally got my bangs back into the puff without clips. But don't let that stop you. I have some very cute clips and decorative bobbi pins that I still like to use. I used them to hold down the pieces(bangs) that were to short. With my natural wave, I found they just blended it. I did however tie the front down over night or in the morning after applying something on the hairline with a scarf until it dried, after first making my pony puff.
Now it hangs down more than out since my hair is getting longer.
