Ladies, after 2 years i'm ready to release the wig for a spell. I want to rock a Twist-Out but concerned about it looking dry (im 4b/4c) and frizzy. Any tips on keeping it shiny and the curls poopin'?

i'm 3c/4a and cottony.

here's what i do:

I use db leave-in to detangle and as a buffer for the gel i use so my hair doesn't get dried out or feel too crunchy but still has hold.

i use oil and rub it allover my twists before to takedown so its not to frizzy.castor, evco, evoo, or whatever else you have is fine.

i only pull the twists apart 3-4 times max so i keep my definition.

i have shine before the oil....i choose not to airdry, i sit under the dryer 30-60 minutes before bed, then go to sleep and take my hair down in the morning. This helps with frizz, imo. HTH

What products you got/planning to use?

I do mine on semi-dry to dry hair. The best is when my hair is stretched or on a blow-out. Wet ones on my hair look scraggly and frizzy. It never looks full (for me) on wet hair.

Rolling with rollers or twirling the ends make the style look more polished.

A good edge control for your sides will make it look real polished too.

I use flaxseed gel and a tiny touch of (eeek!) grease. The curls pop and it holds for a cpl 2-3 days.

Hi DarkJoy,
I recently purchased miss Jessie's knot today, sweat back and curly meringue; I haven't used the meringue yet.

swalker31 - I am mainly 4b.

For max definition:
I do twists usually on wet hair after applying a nice thick moisturiser and an oil esp to my ends.

I let them dry fully, and usually wear them for 2-3 days at least before I pull the twists apart.

When I'm ready to wear a twistout I usually dab oil on my fingers to help prevent frizzing.

I do not separate beyond pulling the 2 strands of the twists apart....all that does is cause frizzing. I found from watching vids that its mainly those 4a and up into the 3s can get away with separating and it does not look like a semi-fro by the time they are done. But that's just what I have seen....it may be different for other posters.

Coconut oil adds shine to a twist out and there's scientific proof that it penetrates the hair shaft so incorporate coconut oil!

I combine 50/50 a moisturizer and aloe vera gel to soften yet define my twist out. Since argon oil is a natural de-frizzer anyway...I think it might help with frizz control. I also use satin strips on my ends to hold in my waves.
