I am reading through this thread, slowly because it is long. It occurred to me to ask if this method is only for those with natural hair. Will it work for texlaxed or relaxed hair? About 3 months ago I slightly texlaxed my hair (linage for 10 minutes). It still looks natural when I wash it and I have to flat iron it to get it straight. When I wash it it is clearly an afro. please advise because no need to continue reading the thread if I this method is not for my hair. Thanks.

I think this method can work for both natural, texlaxed and relaxed hair. The purpose of this method to enure that there is moisture in your hair, something about porosity and something else:lol:. However, I think for some individuals (like myself) the baking soda step might be alittle too harsh for your hair type. I also have read that for some the clay step is alittle harsh too. You have to play around with this method to see what works best for you. With that being said, natural hair can be very dry and often does not maintain it's moisture; that's why it appears that naturals only are using this method.

Does your hair need moisture? Does it lose moisture?

If you do decide to do this method, would you mind posting your before/after results. This could be very useful for the other ladies that are texlax/relax

Yeah, you can do it, but you might not need to do so much work to open your cuticles. So, for example, instead of baking soda, you might want to stick with the ACV option, etc.

That's how I do it and I'm transitioning. About 80% of my hair is natural but I think I have normal porosity, so I try to follow the process without stressing so much about products/ ingredients. I live in twistouts, I'm not doing it for curl pattern. I just want moist, non-breaking hair.

If I decide to do it, I will definitely post my results. My hair needs moisture. I am post menopausal and my hair has changed. It used to retain moisture and have lots of body and now its total opposite and I need to find ways to deal with where I am in life now, in terms of my hair. Thanks. I will keep you all updated should I decide to try it.
