question about clarifying shampoo

I've never used one before so I have a few questions. Is it just like a deep cleaning shampoo? What are some of the benefits of using one? How do you know when it's time to incorporate a clarifying shampoo into your routine?

I'm a newbie too and haven't used clarifying shampoos yet, but I heard that it removes all the products that are build up in your hair.

I used to think clarifying shampoos were for people who used gels, hairsprays, etc. on a regular basis. I didn't so I didn't think I needed to clarify. Since buying Suave to clarify (only because Suave was dirt cheap), I have been reborn! I love that stuff!

There is nothing like it. Even if you were to wash your hair with regular shampoo like 3 times over, it is not the same as using a clarifying shampoo. The clarifying shampoo removes buildup and dirt but it does not dry out my hair. I used Garnier Length and Strength shampoo ONCE and it dried my hair out so badly. Not with clarifying shampoo.

The cheap one works for me so I would not recommend paying a lot for it.....unless someone has had a different experience.......

A clarifying shampoo is used to remove buildup of any products that weigh your hair down with regular use. It differs from a regular shampoo, and IMO, it should be used sparingly, depending on the level of buildup on your hair. I use clarifying shampoos ~ monthly because I do not use regular shampoo.

I use clarifying shampoos on a regular basis because I like my hair nice and clean. Clarifying shampoos remove build up from the hair and scalp. After I use a clarifying shampoo, my hair always conditions much better (conditioner soaks right in). I used a clarifying shampoo on a weekly basis because this works for me and my hair.

I use Nexuss Aloe Rid clarifying poo. I use it at least once a month, maybe 2x a month and follow up with Aveda DR poo.

Quick question ladies: I'm planning on taking my weave out tomorrow and after 5 wks of not really washing my hair properly (it always gets really matted when I wash in weave), I normally clarify. BUT I also want to try out the Sap Moss Pre Poo I just bought. Does anyone know if the pre poo will have the same effect if I clarify after??

Thanks in Advance :)

does it actually say “Nexuss Aloe Rid clarifying shampoo” on the lable. I’ve been looking for it but I cant seem to find it

Cosigning with the other ladies it removes product buildup from your hair. Your hair will let you know when its time to clarify by a prodcut not working as well or just sitting on your head not penetrating. I was clarifying every week for a while and now that ive lowered my prodcut usage and am slowly leaving my pj ways I clarify twice a month but thats what works for my hair.

Darn! It has Sodium Laureth Sulfate..one of the harsh ingredients from the curly girl guide

I swear to you this one from Nexxus is really good. I was using one from Suave and that would dry my hair out something terrible. But this one is verry nice, even has some slip. Try it out, if you don't like it return it.

Does anyone know of any other products without all of those harsh ingredients? I cant find Suave or V05 kiwi and lime clarifier

I think I may give it a try if I don’t find anything else. This is getting very frustrating…I cant seem to find one with out all those harsh ingredient and protein

Nexxus Aloe Rid is really very gentle. I love it.

Some other good clarifying shampoos that I use are Redken's Cleansing Cream and Aveda Detoxifer.

You can also use baking soda mixed in with your regular shampoo. It clarifies without stripping, and soaks up all the product build up. (Oh, and it's CHEAP!)
