I was thinking of purchasing some more products for my daughter and myself. I noticed that the amount of product you get decreased but the price stayed the same. Awwww man:(

Not too long ago 12oz of Amla Olive Cream was 16.00....now you only get 8oz for 16.00.:perplexed

that is really disturbing to me:mad: . the olive honey moisturizer is a staple for me. i may need to figure out how to make it myself. i can do without the heavy cream and sidr butter but, not the olive and honey. DAMN:(

We need to come together and hit up her feedback about bringing back the larger sizes....I love the olive cream detangler it was 16.00 for 12oz. Now you only get 8oz. I'm not feelin that at all.

The larger size will probably come with a larger price as well, unfortunately. I love some of the items from Qhemet's line... I esp. LOVE the way her tea tree gel smells, but I am also kinda frugal. I have resorted to buying raw materials and trying to concoct my own products.

Yeah looks like I'll have to make my own olive cream detangler.

That really sucks. I love that stuff but I'm already a recovering PJ prone to relapses. Guess I won't be purchasing that any more. :perplexed

Yeah, I was at the website and noticed something different.:ohwell: I think I've found a better replacement for my girls though.

I'll likely purchase more from her. The cost of manufacturing, bottles, ingredients etc may rise which means she'll have to take steps to ensure she remains profitable. As long as it doesn't get too ridiculous I'll continue to support this black business.

Same here. I've bought other products that cost a lot more and worked half as well. In my experience I use less of her product because it seems to be concentrated. It has actually helped with how heavy handed I am with products.

The container has changed. The product is no longer in a bottle, but a jar. I emailed her about it and she told me that people had bee complaining that they could not get the very last bit of the product out so after those bottles sold out, she was going to change them to wider tubs.

It looks like this:

And it looks like it is $14.

Anyway, I am like everyone else, I love her products so I will continue to purchase. Her Sidr Tree Butter balm is my leave in and my hair never knew moisture like it has now. n:D

This is from the site (It has been there for a few months):

News & Updates!

Lowered shipping costs!

Qhemet Biologics is pleased to announce the switch from UPS to USPS Priority as our primary shipping service. This change will result in a 2-3 dollar reduction in shipping costs for you!

Updates

A few minor changes have taken place as we entered our second year! Look for packaging upgrades and minor ingredient tweaking, all for the best, in the upcoming weeks and months!

2 oz. sizes are now available for individual purchase!

Please note, in an effort to reduce packaging inventory levels, all 4, 6 and 12 oz. sized containers, except for those used for the oils and pomades, will be phased out and replaced with 8 oz. containers. The Olive & Honey Hydrating Balm and the Olive Cream Detangler will be packaged in 8 oz. jars instead of bottles.

The lower shipping costs is good.

Edited to add:

They better not tweak my Sidr Tree Butter Balm!!! :)

So I'm assuming that the jars are a little more expensive?

Darn I didn't have a problem getting the last bit...oh well.

I think it's more than that, though. I bet she wanted all of the creams to be in the same tub.

I have the tub in the Sidr Tree and I like it. I also got a Olive cream with that order about a month or so ago and that was still in the bottle. I guess I got one of the last ones. But the tubs are nice. They are pretty wide and don't fit into my cabinet like I used to do with the other containers, but other than that it is really easy to get the product out. BUT - very easy to be heavy handed with.

for those of you who are iffy about the price, still give it a try. i got my sample pack in yesterday. the detangler and the honey/ olive balm are NO JOKE!! im buying those 2 no matter what

in regards to the email- that makes sense. i guess the jars cost more. but it was nice of her to change shipping methods. shes right, the 12oz ones could have made the price ridiculous so to keep the price reasonable, she just decreased the size?

i hate that the black independently owned ones are ssoo expensive. but they must start from some where. plus this stuff is worth it

I have to admit that I have paid much more for other products that did not even come close to working as well.

QB has changed the way I think about and care for my hair. I'm down with her until her prices get ridiculous, I hope it never comes to that.

What product was that?

My own mix: aloe vera gel(the kind that's edible by Lily of the Desert--other types did not work for me or them) mixed with hemp seed butter and virgin de coco creme(coconut oil made from coconut milk----the best quality IMO---). I've gotten much better results for my little ones. :) I just take a little of each and mix it in my hand and apply.

I Love me some Qhemet Biologics I am with the others as long as the price don't get too far I am fine, I Love her Heavy Cream, I need to order some more, I have been trying to make my own stuff but it ain't working, I was trying to save money but I am spending more and making a mess LOL!!!

But her products are well worh the Money! as soon as I get some I will notice a difference in my hair.

I LOVE her heavy cream for baggying but I will try a drugstore brand after I get done using Qhemet just to see how it works. If it doesn't i will continue to use. One good thing about the heavy cream is how LONG it lasts for me. I have had the same 12 oz jar since Sept 2006. I use the heavy cream solely for baggying/moisture.

Hi everyone! Glad to finally join LHCF! I was also granted permission to post. :yay:

Just wanted to clear up some confusion.

An announcement regarding the packaging changes was posted on the website at the beginning of February.

There were some concerns that the sizes decreased but the prices remained the same. :nono:

The 12 oz. jar of the Heavy Cream was 17.00 after the September 06 hiatus. The new 8 oz. size is 16.00 which reflects a price decrease.

The old 12 oz. Olive Cream Detangler was 16.00. The new 8 oz. Olive Cream Detangler is 14.00. The 14.00 cost reflects a price decrease.

The old 12 oz. jar of the Honeybush Gel was 16.00. The new 8 oz. jar is 14.00 which reflects a price decrease as well.

Only 3 products were available in the 12 oz. size.

Hi grnidmonster - The price and size of the 4 oz. and 8 oz. Olive & Honey Hydrating Balm hasn't undergone any changes.

Once my stock of 4 oz. bottles runs out, the product will only be available in the 8 oz. size and will be repackaged in 8 oz. jars. The price will remain the same at 16.00.

As with the Olive Cream, customers have requested that the Hydrating Balm be packaged in a jar instead of a bottle for better ease of removal.

 shelli4018, MissVee, TropicalRose, NappyParadise, HoneyDew ...thanks guys for addressing some of the concerns.

Hi HoneyDew - The 8 oz. jar of the Sidr Tree Butter Balm cost 16.00. As you probably know, it was previously only available in the 4 oz. size for 10.00. The formula hasn't changed. :)

Comparison pricing indicates that similar natural hair care companies (Oyin, CD, Blended Beauty, Curls, Myhoneychild, Naani, Curl Junkie etc) offer 8 oz. products for 16.00 as well so QB's pricing is within range. :)

If you guys have more questions or concerns, please feel free to e-mail me at [email protected].

Warmest Regards.

Hey Qhem!! Welcome to LHCF!! :)

I'm glad to hear the hydrating balm will be going to a jar. That was my only complaint about the product. Folx will just need to make sure they remove it with dry hands as water or other liquid product will turn it white.

Thank you for posting. I was also about to contact you to either have this confirmed or denied. I am so glad you could get on to clear this up.

I love your products, the service and the fact that it is all natural and ayurvedic products are part of the ingredients.

Whew! Glad that was cleared up I was over here about to have a fit like a two year old! :)

I don't see that as a price decrease. You are now paying more per ounce. Am I missing something?

The heavy cream was 1.42 per oz it's now 2.00 per oz. The detangler and gel were 1.33/oz it's now 1.75 /oz
.

ME TOO! I read it like 3 times trying to figure out the price decrease. I look forward to the response.

Hi guys, sorry about not being clearer. A poster said that the sizes were smaller yet the price was the same. If that were true, the 8 oz. Detangler would cost 16.00, however, the 8 oz. Detangler costs 14.00. 14.00 is lower than 16.00. In other words, the 8 oz. size doesn't cost 16.00, the 8 oz. size costs 14.00.

I don't think the initial comments were based on price per ounce confusion.

If people preferred the products to be priced using per ounce calculations alone, the 12 oz. sized products would have been priced much higher.

For example, the 12 oz. jar of the Amla & Olive Heavy Cream would have cost 19.92 instead of the 17.00 that I charged (based on the 10.00 cost of the 6 oz. size).

The 12 oz. jar of the Honeybush Gel would have cost 20.80 instead of the 16.00 that I charged (based on the 10.40 cost of the 6 oz. jar.).

The 12 oz. bottle of the Olive Cream would have cost 20.00 instead of the 16.00 that I charged (based on the 10.00 cost of the 6 oz. bottle)

The 3 products formerly offered in the 12 oz. sizes should have been priced around 20 bucks instead of the 16.00 - 17.00 that I charged.

Most natural/handmade product manufacturers charge between 20.00 - 35.00 for sizes within that range.

Undercharging and trying to keep up with all of the different sizes previously offered led to losses and production and inventory difficulties.

My current pricing of 14.00 - 16.00 for 8 oz. of product is fairly standard.

Oyins Whipped Pudding is 8 oz. for 16.00
Curls Milkshake is 8 oz. for 16.00
Curls Goddess Glaze is 8 oz. for 14.00
Blended Beauty's Happy Nappy styles is 8 oz. for 15.50
Curl Junkies Honey Butta leave in is 8 oz. for 20.00
Jane Carters Nourish & Shine is 4 oz. for 20.00
QB's Heavy Cream is 8 oz. for 16.00
QB's Olive Cream Detangler is 8 oz for 14.00.
QB's Honeybush Gel is 8 oz. for 14.00

Comparatively, QB's new prices aren't highly priced, ridiculously priced or priced higher than similar products made by similar companies.

The changes have resulted in higher production rates, inventory reductions and are better suited to meet overhead costs.

All of the raw materials purchasing, container and lid stocking, sterilizing, prepping, manufacturing, pouring, labeling and capping, printing, packaging, shipping and customer service are done by me. There is no factory or staff. Streamlining production at this point was essential.

Both large and small companies make packaging changes, accounting adjustments etc. which are often necessary to keep up with production increases and market changes. QB has undergone quite a few adjustments since debuting in 04. I do post all updates and changes to the Announcements page on the website ahead of time.

All QB products are handcrafted fresh using quality ingredients. Many are 99% - 100% natural, all but one are paraben free, all are formaldehyde free and none contain mineral oil, lanolin, SLS or silicones.
