i got my hair professionally rodded about 4 or 5 weeks ago. after taking the rods out, the stylist picked up a squeeze bottle and gobbed a bunch of stuff on my hair. she said that it was pure silicone and that it would make my hair shiny and help it hold the curls. i thought it would be hard, but my hair was soft and shiny like she said. where can i get pure silicone? is it bad for my hair at all?

Hi dstdiva,

I don't know where to get pure silicone myself, but I would like to know where to get some also.

I checked out that link and that stuff is pretty expensive. I bet you can get the same result with Fantasia IC Hair Polisher or one of the other serums.

Oh man...I wish I could remember the name of the silicone product I bought a couple of months ago.

It's small in a clear bottle with a black top and black writing on it. I think it cost about $6.00. It was very expensive for the small amount, but it worked wonders on my hair. I JUST threw out the bottle about two weeks ago. I am going to do a search and see if I can find out the name of it. You can get it at Sally's, but I got mine at one of the Asian beauty supply stores. I'm about to die because I can't believe I can't remember the name of it!

I know what that product is (I think): Smooth 'N Shine Polishing? If it is, that's what I use, and it works great!

Thank you girl...I can't believe I couldn't remember the name of it. I use to use this all the time when I would flat iron my hair and it was so silky and smooth.

dstdiva, here's a link for you to check out. I can't seem to find a website for the product though.

I use Smooth 'N Shine Ultra Light Hair Polish (clear bottle, pink top). I've never ran across a serum that contained only pure silicone.

Is it good to prevent split end and protect them? If so I would love to buy it.

I have the ultra light version. I hope you like it as much as I do (no matter which version you have).
