Protein vs. moisturizing following braids

I remember in a previous thread, someone mentioned switching up the conditioners following removal of braids each time.Ex. 1st time-Protein, 2nd time- moisturizing. I'd like to do another Aphogee following a month of braids (last month I did this as well). I always follow up with a moisturizing conditioner anyway. Is there harm in doing Aphogee twice in a row? It's been six weeks, and I plan on getting a touch up next.

I'm curious about this to. I just took my 13 year old daughters braids out a(cornrows for 2 weeks), and her hair is shedding a lot(touch it and hair comes out). I'm not sure if I should do an Emergencee treatment, Keraphix or something else? Right now I have her soaking in an essenital oil mix (with carriers of course) But tommorrow we will wash and condition - what should we do?

I had cornrows for six months and experienced no breakage whatsoever. My regimen consisted of doing both every 2 weeks. I applied emergencee, followed by humectress for 20 mins. This kept my hair moisturized and strong enough to withstand the pull n tug of braiding

I am taking out my braids and I will do a Nexxus Kerephix treatment followed by a moisturizing treatment. I have some shedding but it seems like the normal since I have been in braids for 2 months.

Hey, I just took out my braids after a month and am about to shampoo and condition my hair. I used coconut oil and some moisturizing conditioner on my hair overnight. I plan on having my hair relaxed in the next week. Should I do a heavy protein(aphogee)this time or wait to get it at the salon? Also, would it be too damaging to get the touch up any sooner- like in three days?

Actually I would do a protein treament after the relaxer since you are getting it soon. Did you say 3 days? I think if you did it before hand it would cause your scalp to burn. If you feel your hair is strong enough to relax then do what is best for you. I have seen people take out braids one day and get their relaxer the next. It really depends on your hair.

Thanks, DSD!!
I wish I would have read your reply sooner, I should have waited, but I didn't. I'm also suffering from what I call SHS (sticky hair syndrome), afer thoroghly rinsing and moisturizing and rinsing again, my strands keep trying to fuse together and give me h---! I finally got it dried, but I'm scared to put anything else on it cause it'll get more sticky. My hair is 4 monthe post relaxer and I look like a giant puffball. My daughter b-day party is this weekend and I don't know whether to get that perm now or wait(since I did the Aphogee) and get a wig!!!

BTW, your son is so cute. Carseat pics always turn out nicely to me.

Your welcome. You probably want to wait till next week. I
Know that you want to look god for the party because your probably going to be taking loads of pictures. You may want to call your stylist and see what they say.
