Protein Shake

Hi ladies: I just remembered a recipe I used to make when I was just 14 years old. I learned this recipe from my stepfather who is from Guyana, South America. It is a high protein drink and also has a lot of calories so you have to work out ladies or eat less so this doesn't go straight to your hips. But when I drank this, on a daily basis, my hair was stronger and longer and growing. Here it goes and it is delicious!

Ingredients:

2TB peanut butter
1 Cup 1% or 2% milk
1 tsp of vanilla extract
Dash of nutmeg
1 raw egg
1 TB honey
6 ice cubes

Mix everything in a blender until the ice cubes are chopped up really find yet frothy. Drink and enjoy!

Stupid Question: What does TB stand for? I have all of this in stock already and wouldn't mind trying it out!

Thanks

I have no idea how many grams of protein it has in it but if you know a nutritionist I am sure they can calculate it for you but consider this:

It has milk, egg and peanut butter - so that is alot right there.

I believe it stands for Tablespoon. Curlee - correct me if I'm wrong  .

Tastes like a peanut butter shake. Very delicious to me. You can play with the amount of honey, vanilla and nutmeg you add.

TB = tablespoon and trust me, you can't taste the raw egg. It just adds more protein to it. Very delicious if you ask me and filling!

Sounds like a great recipe. All this healthy eating, my bf told me I lost some junk I’m my trunk. I was so mad. My 42” has turned to a 40”. How, when? :cry3: I need to back on the protein. But like you said exercise also.
Can't wait to try it.

Has anyone tried it yet? What did you think? I would use it as a meal replacement b/c it is VERY filling.

sounds like it would replace a meal all right... but would be great for breakfast for me since i'm too busy in the a.m. to cook anything and usually eat pop-tarts.

i am going to figure out the caloric value this weekend when i go shopping for the ingredients, if no one else has posted it by then you'll hear from me Saturday! (except i drink soymilk... but i'll figure it for regular 1% and 2% too for y'all :D )

So, I'm a weight watcher and I ran it through Weight Watchers recipe builder and it's 10pts! With 1% low fat milk. That's half of my daily allowance, but I guess there is a lot in the drink.

BTW, with weight watchers 1pt is approximately 50 calories. But they have a specific calculation that takes into account fiber, fat and calories. So, that's approximately 500 calories for the drink. I'd definately say it's a meal replacement. I'm approximating the calories based on the WW points value, but it could be a little higher or a little lower in calories.

Add some Guiness beer, substitute peanut butter for peanuts and you got some homemade peanut punch!:D

i've got it at 450 calories if you use 2% milk... 430 calories if you use 1% milk... 410 calories if you use soymilk... so sounds like Weight Watchers is pretty on-point!

*21% protein. but 51% fat with 2% milk, 49% fat with 1% milk, 57% fat with soymilk - so heads up...

I just take Musclemilk powder w/ 1/2 water and 1/2 whole milk. Chocolate tastes like a chocolate shake.

Well, I tried it...

It taste like a peanut butter shake, but I think i used too much ice or maybe not enough peanut butter. It was a bit watered down. I've never tasted anything like this before so I would have to get used to the taste. I'm going to experiment with different measurements of PB, vanilla, etc, but so far it's alright. I'm gonna make another batch tonight, but everyone should definetly try it.

I've been drinking protein shakes lately in place of meals using chocolate flavored whey protein. I've been wanting a recipe that I could use my Omega 3 eggs in and this looks like a good recipe. I'm gonna try it this weekend! :D

Tryed this today and it was yummy. :lick: It had a nice, mild peanut butter taste. I used vanilla soy milk and all natural peanut butter. In the future I'm going to try this recipe with almond butter in place of peanut butter and maybe plain fat-free yogurt instead of milk. Thanks for the recipe!

I really like it myself as well. Definitely play with the recipe to suit your taste (e.g. add vanilla, less nutmeg, etc.)

And it is so filling you can definitely replace a meal with it.

Yeah if it came out too watery then definitely use less ice and depending on your taste possibly use 2 hefty TBs of peanut butter.

Well, this recipe is about 464 calories, which really isn't too bad but if you substitute skim milk for the regular, and splenda for the honey, and an egg beater for the egg, it would only be 300 calories.
