and it doesnt revert? i read on the boards that protein reverts a relaxer

My hair doesn't revert when I do it. IMO it works even better if I do it then. I'm curious to hear what some of the other ladies think.

I believe that as long as it is a light protein, you can do it very soon after. The Fiberguard system has their reconstructor as the step right after the relaxer and before the neutralizing shampoo. And I believe that it depends on the TYPE of protein that you're using. You probably don't want to use a heavy KERATIN protein so soon since your hair is made of keratin, but any other protein *should* be okay.

well i believe the K-pak has keratin. these are the ingredients:

Ingredients: Deionized Water, Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Glycol Stearate, Ceteth 2, Mineral Oil, PEG-8 Distearate, Hydrolyzed Human Hair Keratin (Triamine Complex), Laurdimonium Hydroxpropyl Hydrolyzed Human Hair Keratin (Cationic Triamine Complex), Sodium Chloride, Myristyl Myristate, Citric Acid, Fragrance, Sorbic Acid, Cetyl Alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Hydrolyzed Yeast, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Methylparaben, Propylparaben

If you are relaxed with lye, I'd wait a total of 2 weeks to use Joico K-Pak. There are other protein treatments that are fine to use sooner.

I'm curious to know why. I've never had a problem using a heavy protein with a lye relaxer the same day. Did you have a bad experience?

Hey toosexy!

We had a pretty interesting discussion on this topic about a month ago I think. Here's the link: http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?t=89557&highlight=washing

I personally haven't had any issues using proteins of any kind at any point following a relaxer. Some people can handle good amounts of protein conditioning following a relaxer with no problem, and others can't. My hair needs protein usually at the first or second wash after the relaxer session. My favorite one is Aphogee 2 minute keratin reconstructor. To me, Joico k-pac is not a particularly strong protein treatment. Its very middle of the road for me. : I gotta say though, the banana smell is to die for YUM-MY. :lick::lol:
