My hair is suffering from severe split ends. The only thing I can think of is that I stopped doing henna treatments, so my hair must need more protein.

Does anyone have any protein heavy conditioner recommendations? Or any other ideas as to why my hair maybe experiencing so many spilt ends lately?

LOL!!! damn!!! that heavy huh?!

awww ur so sweet....i'ma PJ....i'm about to go buy my own! LOL

how does it smell?
what are the differences that u noticed btw the UBH and aphogee?
How often do you use it?

I really like UBH too. It smells kinda Herbally/Pepperminty to me.

Not sure how it fares in strength to other Protein Rx's. Not familiar with Apoghee.

When I call myself pulling out "the big guns" I usually reach for Nexxus Emergencee (which is technicially a reconstructor).

I was looking at the ingredients list of the UBH, i am not sure which is the protein ingredient. We are talking about the ultra black hair product right?
Thanks anyone for clarifying.

Yep. Cathy Howse Ultra Black Hair. I was looking at that too.:ohwell:

I do like it and will always have a bottle in my Stash:lick:

IDareT'sHair do you use it as a moisturizing conditioner or when you need a little balance? I did look up her Q&A section where someone asked her about aphogee. She replied saying that she would not recommend using her conditioner after a protein treatment. She said to rather use a moisturizer i think from her line. Can't remember the name.

Never liked the idea of eggs. I wash my hair in the shower, and the temperature has to be warm enough so my body can tolerate the amount of time i spend in there. Have you tried spiral solutions protein conditioner bunnie82. It's loaded with different types of protein, and hydrolized keratin is the second ingredient straight after water.

ronie yeah...scrambled egg in your hair is never a good idea...

no ma'm I have never heard of spiral solutions...off to check them out now!!! thanks ronie!!!

I use egg in my conditioner all the time w/o egg being left in my hair. You have to mix the egg with your conditioner of choice and let it sit for 10min or so to come to room temp. I do this weekly followed by heat for 30-40min. Once I rinse it out, no egg residue.

Adding protien to my hair weekly (via egg) is the only way for me to reduce/stop breakage.

ronie I've used it under a dryer and then generally Steamed with a Moisture DC'er afterwards.

For me (my hair), I did not consider it a super strong protein but I do consider it a protein or strengthening conditioner.:yep:

I use Nexxus Emergencee if it is that bad. That is a heavy protein treatment and did help me with split ends. Its is the only protein treatment I know, but for conditioner, I use Millcreek Organics keratin conditioner.

I used to use Emergencee weekly (that's a lot, I know, but it worked). It's great, and not drying as Aphogee 2 step.

I now add powdered milk to my Terressentials mud wash and dilute with water. I LOVE this! It leaves my hair strong and soft. The heaviness or lightness of the treatment seems to depend on how much milk and how long I leave it in. I've been using it weekly for 10ish mins (remember I used Emergencee weekly, so take that for what you will). I also used the powdered milk separately by mixing with water and applying before washing, and this worked well. Adding it to the mudwash just saves time.

Egg- left my hair hard & dry but added no strenth (didn't penetrate). Complete mess in the shower.

Also for the splits- be sure to PS while out in the cold, line your hat/hood with silk, and trim (or S&D if there aren't that many) the splits so they don't get worse.

Good luck!
