Okay ladies with all this talk lately about conditioners... what's a good or your best protein condish? Or do you make your own by mixing something in? Is there a protein dc out there as well? Don't leave me hanging ladies!

HairPleezeGrow - The best protein conditioner for my relaxed hair is Aubrey Organic Glycogen Protein (AO GPB). It has a great protein/moisture balance, so I never have to follow it with a second moisturizing DC. It's also available in stores (but is cheaper on vitacost.com). I apply it to dry hair for 15-30 mins.

I just used Ion (red label) for the first time and so far it's great. I won't know for sure for a few days, but immediately, it feels completely different, in a good way, from any other protein conditioner I've used. My hair does not have that hard feeling I usually get from protein. This is a vegetable protein vs animal protein, maybe that's why?

I find egg white to be a really good natural Px - added to a regular conditioner for light protein or alone for a medium strength protein. The nice thing with egg white is that you can almost "feel" it start working and can control the effect - I leave it on till my hair has gone from soft/limp to a bit sturdier, then I rinse.

M&T Deep Moisturizing Conditioner contains wheat protein, so is good for a cowash.

For a regular Px, Aphogee 2 Minute Keratin or Vitale Olive Oil Hair Mayo which is excellent alone or with egg white for extra oomph. It leaves my hair feeling soft, strong and heavy.

For a heavy/emergency Px Aphogee 2 Step.

I want to try this next but currently im using AO GPB and its pretty good

Curl Junkie Repair Me
Redken Extreme Conditioner

Of the two, CJRM leaves my hair feeling stronger, but REC leaves my hair softer and more moisturized.

I need to add another Px that I just used today... I'm in love!!!

Mirpur Organic Soy Hair Mayonnaise Conditioning Treat. 20oz cost £1.69 / $2.00

This product can be used in two ways:

1) As a regular Conditioning Px (apply/cover with towel for 10 mins/rinse)

2) As a daily use product: Apply a small amount into palms and spread evenly over hair. Apply extra amounts to weak, damaged areas and ends as desired.

Contains (amongst others but in order of appearance) Mineral oil, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Olive Oil, Dimethicone Copolyol Laurate, Egg Oil, Carrot Oil, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Panthenol, Cholesterol, Vitamin E, Rosemary Extract, Nettle Extract, Horsetail Extract, Wild Marjoram Extract :lick:

This Px hasn't left my hair feeling hard - my wet strands feel smooth, coated and heavy, not thin and wispy like with my normal Px's. While doing my oil pre-poo and during the wash I lost about 50 broken hairs :nono: Soon as I applied this product the breakage stopped dead - no broken hairs on my hands after applying and smoothing through, and no broken hairs while rinsing. I had one tiny breakage after I dried... and that was it!!! Highly recommended!

Dang IDareT'sHair you don't play with hair products do you? I need to repair, then, maintain my hair's porosity (high at the moment, I think). Would I need a dose of a strong protein followed by weekly/biweekly light-mid to get back on track or just start with a mid and do that weekly? Also, Of these that you mentioned, how can one tell if they are light, mid or hard proteins?
The SSI looks good but I see Hydrolized Wheat Protein is listed later in the ingredients compared to say MillCreek Keratin that has it listed second, does that make the MillCreek a hard protein?

Thanks:yep:

CJ Repair Me
AO Island Naturals Replenishing
Hairveda Acai Phyto

These are all proteins that I don't need a moisturizing DC after.

I keep eyeing Millcreek. It's next on my list to try

ORS Replenishing pak... I remember they changed the ones in the pack and the one regular bottle. So everybody started buying those little packs... BUT... isn't the formula still the SAME as the little packs in the huge bottle that they sell in stores???

I just finished my ORS Replenishing Condish, mmmmm it smells like orange frosting... but isn't this huge bottle at Sally's the exact same ingredients and in the same order as the little packets??? Somebody please know the answer!!! Lol

I've attached a picture of all three here... can somebody help? Because if they are the same, I will continue to buy the big one that says professional, not the mid sized one, or the little packets... its cheap and it's good!

You can compare the ingredients between the paks and the bottle. I vaguely recall this debate krikit96. However, I haven't followed the brand close enough to comment on the changes. My hair is picky and I will continue to use the paks because I know my hair likes those. I'm sure the bottle may be cost effective but the paks suit me just fine. In addition, I like being able to toss the empty pak when done.
