Can anyone give a listing of good protein based moisturizers? Preferably ones that can be bought locally. Also does anyone have a recipe for making a protein moisturizer at home?
Thanks in advance.
(Source)What are the benefits of Hydrolyzed Silk Protein?
HAIR CARE-Aids in moisture retention due to its strong hygroscopic properties (silk is credited with the ability to retain 10,000 times its weight in water), resulting in optimum conditioning and increased strength. Provides superior conditioning properties, making it ideal for natural-type conditioners, shampoos, and hair repairing systems. Links hair fibers to improve elasticity, resilience, and restore the moisture balance.
I use 2 packets of plain gelatin with about 1/4 to 1/2 cup of water, put it in the microwave for about 30 seconds and apply it simultaneously with my shampoo. It's a natural protein moisturizer. (it is better to do this with shampoo, I wouldn't use it with conditioner).
You can also do it as a pre-shampoo treatment but it blends better with shampoo.

@prettyhair73 I've never heard of using gelatin. You mean gelatin made from pig hooves as in "jello gelatin" Gelatin? That is so interesting. I definitely need to give that one a try. Thanks so much,
