Do you use gel when you create your ponytails?

If not, how do you smooth down your hair and your edges?

I want to achieve a smooth look? Is it possible without gel?

Ususally a little gel and my scarf works for me. I usually start with damp hair too.

I don't use gel. I use the Tancho stick to slick down the sides... along with a silk scarf.

I use the scarf method along with one of the following: Elasta QP Glaze, JBCO (Jamaican Black Castor Oil), or ORS Lock & Twist Gel (it doesn't contain any drying alcohols)
