Protective Styles Question

I'm no expert either, but I think the ends have to be tucked away somehow. It's all about protecting those ends I think.

I've noticed it helps to keep the ends tucked away because hair exposed to air will become dry and brittle causing breakage. This is noticeable in the winter.
Putting moisturizer on the ends every other day has also helped.

I was wondering about this too. I am in 2009 boot camp. And I have kept my hair up usually in a scrunchie but I leave my ends out. I walk from the door to my car and the car to the door so I hang out in the cold too much. My ponytail is preety high so my ends dont touch my chair at work and I have a scarf on my head rest in the car. I think if your ends are not rubbing against anything, your not spending an extend amout of time in the air and you moisturize daily its ok to have your ends out. JMHO
