I was hoping we could start a little library of protective styles. I especially would love to hear what you did to protect your hair from excessive manipulation and heat styling when it was shorter.

Currently hooked on braidouts!

  1. Section hair with fingers (relaxed - at 9 weeks post relaxer)
  2. SURGE & lightly oil (as needed) scalp
  3. put a few drops of Lotta Body Setting Lotion in my hands and run over sections.
  4. braid sections (not to tight or rough; I have very delicate hair)
  5. lightly Mango Butter ends and new growth (hairline & nape)
  6. flatclip ends
  7. wrap in satin scarf before retiring
  8. VIOLA!
:woot: My hair is looking GOOD!

Sorry I don't have pics right now ... want to see how this technique works for me before I share! (plus I am asking Santa for digital camera for Christmas).

Right now my 2 protective styles are either a bun or a French Twist. The way I grew my hair out years ago from neck length to bra strap was by wearing braids.

My hair is chin/neck length, so right now I'm wearing mini-French twists or one of my falls. I have a phony pony on the way that I'll use to make a bun. I have a few pics in my album, I'll post more this weekend.
