I am considering going natural what was your regime doing the transition
and what advice can you offer to me. I too do not want to do the big chop.

In the begining, I did a lot of conditioner washing and throughout the entire transition, I have worn a lot of phony ponies. I use Fanataisia IC gel for color treated hair, put my hair in a bun and put a phony pony over it. I usually spray the bun with some type of moisturizer (I really haven't found one I'm in love with yet) and seal with oil every night and tie a scarf around it.

I do not brush or comb it unless I just washed it. I conditioner wash after 3 or four days and wash with CON once a week. I also clarify every 3 weeks or so. When I wear my hair down, I always use Pantene Extra Liso for my last conditioner because it helps keep my hair straight. I then roller set and flat iron.

I also do wash and go's, braid outs and buns. I have continued to use silicon products this entire time because I have too much of a hard time without them. Anyway, I think the key is protective styling and moisture. A lot of people told me I wouldn't be able to transition without BCing:rolleyes: . I can't wait to be done with the relaxed ends but I couldn't see myself chopping it all off at once.

Haven't ganed much length?? Gurl, quit it!!!:spank: Your hair is so beautiful. It's long and sooo thick!!! I'm going to gang up with the other ladies and say it again, great progress!!!:yay: You might not think so, but keep taking pics, and you will eventually believe it yourself when you do comparisons. But whatever it is you're doing, keep it up! You're doing great!

Looks good to me. And I have a question. So you say that your last relaxer was June 2006. Out of curiosity, how much non-permed hair do you have in inches? Just wondering how much your hair grew in 21 months.

Thank you. I would guess that I have about 2 inches (the longer parts) or less in some places and none in some places. I have cut it out completely in some places like in the front, sides and the top layer (my hair is kind of layered). I have never actually measured it so that's an estimate. I have cut a lot of it but done so gradually. It's also hard to tell because the last year of relaxing was texlaxing and very mild. I still have many different textures. I will post a pic of it freshly washed one day.

Your hair looks beautiful! I hope my transition goes that well. I will not BC, so your pictures are a great inspiration for me.

Thank you. I tried transitioning for years unsucessfully. When my hair was short, it was extremely hard. You are starting with a good length. Just be patient because it was hard and frustrating at first.
