Hi Everyone,

I started to use Shikakai Oil/Powder since January, and below are my results. The first picture was taken early January, the second was taken late February, and the last two were taken today (I trimmed). My hair is getting thicker! I am really excited about that! My mom is complaining because now it takes her longer to press my hair with a hot comb..lol. I would press it, but it takes me twice as long...ha!

BTW, I use Cocasta Shikakai Herbal Hair Oil from Hairveda.net, and the Shikakai Powder I get from Amazon.com.

My goal is to have thicker hair so when I trim it looks like a nice blunt cut....you know what I mean...lol.

Thanks for stopping by!

Congrats on your progress!!! Your hair is very pretty.

I am waiting for my shikakai powder and other ayurvedic products to come by mail. I hope to achieve as much when I start using them as well. Hopefully I will be BSL in a matter of six to nine months.

Your hair looks great:yep:..I luv the indian powders and oils ...my hair has also gotten thicker by using them..... but around here all the stores are sold out:nono:....

Though I can find most of the powders I want, there does seem to be a shortage of Alma powder.... the local Indian grocer says its an import shortage and that all of his suppliers are short as well

Excellent progress! I can certainly attest to the fact that Cocasta shikakai oil will thicken your hair and make it really glossy. Shikakai powder is really great....I mix mine with coconut oil and coconut milk and use as a DC. I'm glad you found them!:yep:

You have some really good progress with the thickness. Congratulations. :congrats: I'm glad you posted your progress. I recently purchased some indian oils and powders. Can't wait to get started on it and hopefully have some great results like yours. Keep up the good work!

Your hair looks so shiny and pretty...I have some shikakai soap but I have not used it yet...you are making me go find the soap!

Thanks for the compliments girls! I'm hoping that it grows a lot during the summer. I'm a big believer in trimming, but I may have to let that go for the summer and do a nice trim for September.

CherishGOU - there are plenty of members on this board that uses Indian products and relax.

Lavendar - it was you who inspired me to use Shikakai Oil/Powder in the first place! Hopefully my hair can grow as thick as yours!

Dubois007 - Thanks for the compliments!

I wash my hair every two weeks with CON (I still have a lot of the old kind in my cabinet....thank goodness...lol), and I condition with a Shikakai powder/Jamila Henna/CON condioner mix (I don't mix a lot, just enough to saturate my head, I use about a half cup of warm water). After this I spray my head with Olive Oil (ORS) and put a bit of Ultra Sheen Satin Press (blue), and blowdry. I braid up my hair for the night, and my mom presses it with a hotcomb the next day (It takes about 1.5 hours). Once a week I oil my hair with Cocasta Shikakai Herbal Hair Oil, which can be purchased at www.hairveda.net. It's the best oil that I've ever used!

HTH!
