Product review: Curls (naturals/text4a 4b)

I am so pleased with the "Curls" haircare line. I read a review on www.motowngirl.com and decided to give it a try.
First I ordered the whipped cream ( for moisture and definition) and the tea conditioner. I was so amazed at the results I ordered the quenched curls moisturizer and the spiral curls cream. I have a mild texturizer and blonde color in my hair so it gets really dry. I still love my gel with sparkle lites, but this stuff is amazing. Yes. There is shrinkage but the whipped cream gave me curl definition I never had before. My hair type is 4a/b. Has anyone else tried their products?

The whipped cream puts curly pudding to shame. I don't use curly pudding anymore because it dries my hair out. (color)

I highly recommend these products if you're natural, texturized.
I'm posting my pics this afternoon.

check them out at www.curls.biz the shipping was super fast.

I love the Curls stuff!

My favorite so far is the Hair Tea conditioner and the Naturally Enhanced Curl Lotion. The Spiral Curls Cream is also good.

I like the Curls Souffle and Whipped Cream for styling as well, but they can be too much for my hair 3C/4A hair. I gave the Whipped Cream to my 4A brother and he likes it quite a bit. :D

P.S.: I agree... this stuff is putting Curly Pudding to shame. I might not ever buy it again.

Thanks for the review. I know Curls has been getting raves on nc.com and I was almost tempted to include it in my PJ binge two weeks ago. I didn't alas, so I'll have to use up my Oyin, Qhemet, Asha, Myhoneychild products/samples before I dive into Curls.

Ummmm...maybe.... :look:

I have the hair tea, the coconut creme conditioner and the moisturizer but I haven't used them yet. I've been waiting for it to warm up so I can try it on my curls. I'm going to do a review on the products in my fotki when I use them.

ITA. Peeped the album. Your hair is very pretty Littleaudie! I would love to learn how to self-braid because yours look fantastic.

Thanks for this review :) . I have been looking for something like this...but I wanted to hear about it from someone who's hair looks similar to mine :). I think I will try it.

Thanks for the review. I was skeptical about these products, but if they're "putting Curly Pudding to shame," I'm about to have a PJ recovery relapse.

I wonder if this product will work on my hair. Do u have to be multiethnic to use it? I live my IC gel, but I'd love to have a product that makes my hair look moist and curly without drying out . My curls look best when my hair is wet. If only it would stay as defined when my hair dried.:ohwell:

Nope.

I'm not biracial and am no more mixed than the average black person. I understand that Curls is trying to target the multiracial market, but I personally think they're really limiting their sales by not emphasizing that their products work just as well on straight-up "black" hair.

I agree. That's the only thing I don't like about it. The Blended Beauty line is the same way. Anyone can use the products though.

I was thinking the same thing when I went to the website. I'm black not multiethnic. (no Indian and the like in my family) If that's their target market then it's their loss. -I didn't want to bless them and curse them in the same review that's why I posted my hair type. 4a's and 4b's need not be discourage from the pictures of bi-racial people on the website. Motown girl www.motowngirl.com is African American with natural hair and it was her review that I read first before I bought the products.;)

Thank you. I've been braiding since I was a kid (I was the girl on the block that braided everyone's hair)
It saves a ton of money, but takes a long time.

Thank u for starting this thread. I'll have to try this stuff when I'm done with my IC gel. :D You guys are the best!:notworthy

I've seen this site before but I've never ordered. Does anyone have the ingredients for the products you've ordered?

INGREDIENTS:
Curls (and Curly Qs) products contain an exclusive blend of natural oils and quality ingredients. We’ve also included a new, patent pending ingredient proven to restore the integrity of damaged hair, and replenishes the protective layer bound to the hair cuticle.
 • Monoi de Tahiti (mixture of rich Tahitian coconut oil together with Gardenia essential oil). It helps rehydrate hair, and restores shine and bounce. It is scientifically proven that Monoï de Tahiti has a repairing effect on dry and damaged hair. Results of the study carried out in the research and experiment laboratory EVIC-CEBA on 4th December 1998.
 • Incroquat Behenyl 18 MEA - the primary lipid found at the hair surface. Human hair contains a thin, protective layer of lipids covalently bound to the cuticle and comprised primarily of 18-MEA. Chemical treatment or environmental stresses can remove part or all of this fatty layer, making hair unmanageable, less healthy-looking, and more susceptible to further damage. Incroquat Behenyl 18 MEA was developed as a means of replenishing this important lipid and is recommended in products for aging, weathered, permed or color-treated hair. This is a relatively new product and is still patent pending.
 • MSM - methylsulfonylmethane) is a naturally occurring nutrient, a sulfur compound- an important element for a healthy scalp, and the growth of hair and nails.
 • Avocado Oil - A natural moisturizer is an excellent conditioning oil and contains large amounts of vitamins A, D, & E. The purest oil provided by mother nature! Naturally protects hair from ultraviolet rays.
 • Hu Wu Shu Extract (China) Nourishes and hydrates both hair and scalp. Clinically proven to prevent hair loss.
 • Calendula Extract - Increases hair shaft elasticity and flexibility to prevent breakage. Penetrates the core of the hair shaft to help restore Keratin levels.
 • Green Tea Extract - (Japan) – Soothes and moisturizes dry hair and scalp.
 • Shea Butter & Mango Butter - Ultra rich emollients that provide intense conditioning from cortex to cuticle
 • Palm Kernel Oil - A "tropical" oil derived from the seeds of palm tree fruit. this highly emollient oil is a great hair conditioner.
 • Meadowfoam Seed Oil - valued for the unique high quality triglyceride oil extracted from the seed compared to other vegetable oils.
 • Grapeseed Oil -
 • Soy Protein – Reinforces and strengthens hair. Stimulates hair growth.
 • Lecithin - helps maximize hair growth and strength.
 • Rosemary Extract - Provides stimulating, rejuvenating and gentle antiseptic properties.
 • Aloe Leaf Juice - Vitamin rich moisturizer (B1, B2, B6, C, Choline, + 18 amino acids).
 • Chamomile & Plumeria Extract - Strengthens hair, adds sheen
 • Panthenol – Vitamin B complex that adds strength and body to hair by filling in cracks on the hair shaft.

I feel a PJ attack coming on.....

Uh, me too. I've been wanting to try Curly Pudding for the longest but I refuse to pay so much for one hair care product. It's not that serious. I've tried the Curls moisturizer, styling lotion and coconut conditioner and all three are pretty good.

ETA: You can also purchase the Curls line at Naturallycurly.com's Curlmart. They also ship superfast. I usually get my products in about 3 days.

Thanx for the ingredient list. I had seen that on the website but I was wondering if anyone had the ingredients for the individual products. I'm interested to know what preservative they are using.

NC's curl mart (www.curlmart.com) lists ingredients for some of the Curls products.

Any updates or any more reviews...Right now since Qhemet Biologics isn't doing orders until October and I am out of Amla & Olive Heavy Cream...I am thinking about buying the Curls whipped cream.

Thanks
