What do you guys do to make ur press last longer? I tend to sweat mine out in the shower which is not good because then straightening my hair was useless at that point. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanx!

i dont wear my pressed hair for more than a week, cuz i get antsy and want to wash it!

i heard that tying it down REAL TIGHT before you get in the shower helps ....i dont do anything in particular though....its usually still straight when i wash it...

what if you give yourself touch ups on low heat??

I used to take lukewarm showers. Reason #101 why I am no longer pressing all the time.
Another thing is don't use water based products. All I ever used was oil on the ends.

The biggest tip is to behave like you're a witch and any water near your head will cause you to melt. If I'm set on keeping a press, I wear two shower caps in the shower and refrain from taking super long showers because I don't want my head to sweat. Baths are good too. When I wash my face, I'm super careful not to splash alot and I keep the shower cap on. I don't run vigourously with a press but if I do any workouts I make sure I put my hair is a super high ponytail and style the pony hair so it doesn't touch my head (usually I band the hair or wrap it in a scarve). And I try to wrap my hair at night.

I press mine with a ceramic flat iron , it's done wonders for my reversion. When I shower I wrap my hair, tie with a silk or satin scarf then put on my shower cap.

number one thing is i ALWAYS press with a ceramic flat iron. number two is whenever i take a shower i tie it down in a wrap/doobie and put a scarf around it really tight...then i put a shower cap on top of that. as far as working out goes...well...i just dont do it when i have my hair straightened out

Okay, that sounds good. It looks like I'll be taking baths then because even in the shower my hair still reverts. And I put it on a cooler setting in the shower, but still warm enough so that I can bathe myself but it still reverts. I don't have a ceramic flat iron (something I'll invest in, in the future) but I have a regular flat iron with the stove to go with it. So I'll try that. Thanx guys.

Well, unlike most people, I wash and press my hair once every three weeks, and my press stays until I wash it. First thing, when my hair is damp, I put ultra sheen on it, which helps the hair to be moisturized, plus it presses better. I oil my hair once a week, and when I take a shower, I usually have my scarf on, plus a shower cap. I also wash my face before taking a shower, because I know once I start to shower I can't see, and the water will probably get under the cap. I would suggest that you wrap your hair tightly, that way it would still be straight when you're done.
