Preparing to BC...What do I need to know?

*search not working for me* After a year of transitioning I'm finally ready to BC (I even bought new shears) so what do I need to know/have on hand for the big moment (either today or tomorrow) and what would be the best technique since I'm doing it myself. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Scissors. Check!

Conditioner like Vo5, suave, WR (the cheapo watery ones work great for this). Check!

2 Mirrors (a handheld and a wall mirror). Check!

You are set. Here's what I did:

What i did was divide my hair into 4-6 sections and clipped them out of the way, when you're ready to cut, undo a section, use a rattail comb to divide it again into as many sections you can comfortably cut at one time.

If you use a nice watery conditioner, there's no need to wet or wash your hair before cutting.

Load up the small section with conditioner and you should see where the natural hair ends and the relaxed hair begins really well. My hair was underprocessed and the difference between the two was strikingly clear so don't worry about not being able to tell the difference!! Brush or comb the conditioner through the hair section from root to tip.

I had 4 sections that I divided again into 4 sections. After I finished cutting I moved onto the next big section and did it all over again.

You may need a hand when you get to the back, that was the hardest part for me to get to but not impossible if you're determined .

Don't worry about straight ends, you can always go back and trim them later on.

Can't think of anything else atm. If I forgot something I'll come back and edit this post.

Hopefully you'll get some more ideas from the other ladies soon.
