Why do I have flyaway hair when I wear it down and how can I control it...is it because it's thin (I have thin hair). But everyone with thin hair does not have flyaway hair  !

I get flyaways too. It's just uneven hairs.

Aveda recommends putting some light oil in a paddle brush (only a few drops) and brushing down the fly aways.

But a litttttle bit of serum smoothed over the areas work for me. If not I will add a tiny tiny smudge of grease.

No, I mean all of my hair just looks wild...It appears to be unkept. If the wind hits it and it blows, my hair it just stays that way! What can I use to make it lay down?

It's bouncy? A lot of women would kill for that!

You can try adding more product and/or a heavier moisturizer to weigh it down.

Why does that one spot feel tender after you take down your wrap? (hope i'm not alone in this ;D)

Never head of this before. Maybe you're too rough while wrapping or you've been wrapping in that direction too much.. regardless, I think you might need to take a break from wrapping if it is making a spot tender...

How long does it take to get the hang of doing air dried hair? I've been trying...

If I airdry it hanging down about five hours. If I airdry in a wet bun like a day and a half.

Can you wash out your relaxer? Like if you wash to many times will it wash out the relaxer (Dont laugh) Its just sometimes I dont see much growth but my roots look shady...maybe Im trippin but I was wondering.

No, it's physiologically impossible. You just underprocessed your hair when you relaxed it.

What is the best way to do a wash and go without having crunchy hair?

For me the wash and go works best when I co-wash and go. Instead of washing with shampoo I just co-wash and my hair is never cruncy anymore.

I always added some conditioner (usually Humectress or Dove Intensive) to my products that I used for my WnG and I never ended up w/ crunchy hair. :)

My questions:

-For the ladies that do bantu knots - do you wrap in the same direction for each one? I tried it the other nite and ended up w/ all sorts of craziness.... :confused:I think it was cuz I just kinda randomly wrapped them as I went along w/ no real pattern.

-Are headbands (just the regular little plastic boys) harmful? Ive been wearing them alot l8ly and someone told me they can cause breakage.

-Is EVERYTHING on your scalp bad? Or just mineral oil?

I do the bantu knots in the same direction.

What I do now is, since I twist the hair first anyway, I do the bantu knots in the same direction, and then unwind them, and keep the twists, and pull the twists into a pony tail.

Really cute.

Ditto on this!

Also, I have the soreness with wrapping, too! My head is sore right now! :perplexed

i learned from the video posted here a few months back... I do all of my bantus in the same direction counterclockwise.

Does anyone rollerset and after removing the rollers just shake their head, run their fingers through it and go? a shake-and-go maybe..

Why do people keep cutting their hair, and then complain that it is not getting longer as they thought it should be?

Everytime, I read this - I'm like duh!

maybe they reallllllllllly want blunt hair... and don't even want it uneven while it grows...

What is the point of jumping from products to products when you find something that already works?
I'm guilty of that.B/c I'm often surprised by the outcome and I have now several trusted products I can turn too.In case one of my condi's is not available somewhere I have at least a few more others I could turn too
(I mostly just jump around with condi's)

Jumping products can cause setbacks if.. you try something that has harming ingredients or is just not necessary. I'm making sure to read the ingredient list very carefully, I also don't get stuff that my hair doesn't need(ok that's relative:look: )
My hair wants:moisture, frizz fighting ingredients and the occasional protein.
That's ALL I'm shopping for
for now

I dunno but I'm guilty of this.
I try hard not to cut my hair b/c it grows uneven. Once I stopped hacking away I saw a HUGE difference in hair length.

For a curly rollerset, should I use RED or PURPLE rollers?? does placement matter??

I would say use red rollers b/c they're smaller. The smaller the roller the tighter the curl. The purple rollers(big rollers) give you body and little curl.

Yes I use a little elasta mango butter, some ic gel, and some type of oil. I also have a little spray with water, honey, vo5 conditioner, and some type of oil that i use as I am styling it.

I put the conditioner on when I first get in the shower then I put one of the shower caps on that uses your body heat and finshing showering. I was it out at the end.

My hair won't hold a curl for nothing. That's why I feel I have to use heat all the time. As soon as I sleep on it...gone flat. I know people who can keep a spiral wrap for two weeks and it always falls so beautifully. Not me. What can I do? This would be a godsend for my hair!

BTW: I like this thread!:) :)

Another question: I want to incorporate Henna into my routine.

What is the simplest Henna recipe you can think of? I want the conditioning benefits and jet black color.

Is it safe to do as often as I want?
