Would rather not start a whole thread for just a simple question?? This thread is for you.

Let's all post our questions, you come in and post the answer if you know it and/or you add your question.

Is coconut oil only for shine, or does it seal as well as other oils?

1) Why does relaxed hair sometimes appear to revert after washing?

2) can anyone's hair be relaxed bone straight (i.e. no curl, kink, or wave period when wet?)

Why do types 1,2 and 3 have hang and bounce and 4 (typically) do not?

My guess is that type 4 is more tightly coiled, but with certian products and styling methods it can bounce with the best of them!

Can you wash out your relaxer? Like if you wash to many times will it wash out the relaxer (Dont laugh) Its just sometimes I dont see much growth but my roots look shady...maybe Im trippin but I was wondering.

Can you really take a biotin pill crush it up and put in your conditioner and see results?

It seals well, and apparently it's one of the few oils that can actually moisturize as well. Someone posted an article about it on here. Sometimes I add coconut oil to my deep conditioners.

Why do some people say that when they get increased shedding or breakage (when stretching), then it's time for a relaxer? How does a relaxer alleviate that?

What is the point of jumping from products to products when you find something that already works?

I'm guilty of that. I guess variety is the spice of life? I'm exploring my options.

From my experience NO. I had a cousin that every time she would get a relaxer, her hair would not relax bone straight, no matter how long she left the relaxer in.

I think that the greater the texture difference between the relaxed and unrelaxed parts the worse the possible breakage. That's b/c the hair strand is weakest where the two textures meet. Getting a relaxer puts all the hair on the same level. Hope that explanation helps.

So I have made my decision and I'm going to texturize tommorow! My hair is a little bit longer than collar bone lenght streched,4afine and completly natural. My mother who is a stylist will be applying the relaxer. I have been doing my research and I have decided on using Affrim fiberguard mild mixed with olive oil and some sort of protien. I think I'm going to get nexus keriphix for the protien (I'm out of my Ao BPB).
My question is should I have my mother mix the conditioner in the affrim before she applies it or should I apply the conditioner to my hair and let it dry over night? Also do you think adding oil to the relaxer is needed if using protien? I ask this because my mother is old fashioned and its gonna be hard trying to convince her to put oil in a relaxer.
TIA
Thanks for this thread! I didnt get an answer in the thread I posted maybe I will get an answer here!

Thanks. It's starting to make sense to me now.

Why do people keep cutting their hair, and then complain that it is not getting longer as they thought it should be?

Everytime, I read this - I'm like duh!

Why is that when I put conditoner in my hair fr five minutes, it does nothing but when i leave it in for 20 under the dryer my hair feels and acts so much better?

Great thread MsDee. This is Fun.

Doesn't changing products causes setback?

Not for me. Sometimes it feels like my hair get used to a certain product after a while and I don't get the same results. This is when I know it's time to either try something new or clarify.

oh, so the product loses its effect on your hair.

No. It can it if has build up on it. Also other factors can effect the way a product works on your hair-your hair current level of damage, porosity, other products in conjunction with that, water type, humidity in your home, etc, etc. But products never stop working for "no reason" (assuming the formula hasn't changed). There are so many factors that can make a product stop working for you-IMO there is ALWAYS a reason.

And changing products won't cause your hair to break. It's changing reggies that will. Products aren't the foundation of healthy hair-it's how you USE them. You can give someone all the best products in the worls and if they don't know how to use them then they are ass outta gas. So someone can use CON shampoo for 15 years and change to another shampoo and their hair will not break (assuming that the shampoo works for them).

Was this supposed to be a game like this or that, where you only ask a question AFTER you answer one? Because it's not going like that...:ohwell:

To avoid massive tangles and knots, what is the most effective way to self wash and condition hair as it grows longer  I have tried the crown and glory braided method for washing and that does not work for me... the braids come out and I still get tangles that I have to work through.

Can you sneak the oil into relaxer before your mom does your hair? You didn't get the Fiberguard protein conditioner? It is really good. I don't think you should mix the keraphix in the conditioner.

I just got some avocado butter and avocado oil from Oils by Nature... can I use them directly out of the tub/bottle or are they meant to be mixed with other ingredients?? If so, does anyone know of a simple recipe I could try??

Also, the avocado butter is more solid-like than I expected; am I supposed to melt it down before use??

Why does that one spot feel tender after you take down your wrap? (hope i'm not alone in this ;D)

What kind of shampoo are you using? I notice that no matter what my technique is my clarifying poo always leave my hair sorta tangled.

Anyway. I don't do the C&G method, I let my hair hang lose while showering. I NEVER bunch the hair on top of my head and if you are, stop. Also wash in the shower.

Thanks Shynessqueen!

Locks.. ummmmm :look: ... it's not a game, I don't think, it's pretty much just a Q&A, but we just need people trying their best to do both.

I "think" the heat from the dryer opens the hair's cuticles and lets the conditioner penetrate the shaft better.

Question: Are Tropical Brand Dominican conditioners REALLY deep condtioners?

I wash my hair this way. I apply oil, detangle well, braid and secure with plastic barettes (goody). I don't braid all of the way down to the end. I do oil treatment overnight /wash next day. I find that if hair is detangled well and you make the braids tight enough, then I have basically no tangles. The tight braids loosen up when wet. I also be sure to do enough braids parting my hair like doing a mohawk set in workable sections. my back crown area tangles like crazy. so down the middle, I will have 3-4 sections.
I cannot baggy, it tangles the heck out of my hair if i have new growth, and I am not prepooing with conditioner, if i have new growth. I am super careful to only gently squeeze my braids, so it takes me longer to rinse with a handheld shower head.

After my final rinse I spray/saturate the braids with diluted Elucence MB condit. I take the braids down section by section and set. Although my hair is dripping wet, I still mist on even more if my hair acts like its tangling. Even when I do have tangles, they easily slip out.
Sorry So Long, HTH!!!

Why do I have flyaway hair when I wear it down and how can I control it...is it because it's thin (I have thin hair). But everyone with thin hair does not have flyaway hair  !

You might try securing the ends with a little girl's barrette. This is what I do, and it works great.
