No matter what I do my hair breaks. I have been using cassia once a week (30 min with yogurt and olive oil), followed by Elasta DPC-15 (60 minutes no heat). I twist and then roll the wet twists setting them with a leave in of dove intense repair mixed with glycerin and almond oil and fantasia sparkle lights gel. Since I go to the gym I need to co-wash mid week and then I do the twists again. I comb only twice a week. Once in the shower after I rinse out the conditioner with a little dove and use the shower head to detangle.
I do the same thing mid-week when I co-wash. On cassia sundays I use Avalon Organics shea butter moisturizing clarifying shampoo before the cassia and deep con. I eat very well take flaxseed, omega 3, and traders joes womens hair nail and skin vitamins. and I drink water. Every time I touch my hair it breaks. I pin it up sometimes with a sort of japanese hair thing-it has a stick and a curved part. The stick is very smooth though and not rough at all. Why oh why won't it stop? I have texlaxed hair. Switched to Mizani no lye from Phyto 9 weeks ago. I try to stretch to nine weeks between each. Why can't I stop the breaking? At first I thought it was too much protein, and I really do think henna is better. But still it hasn't stopped. I protect with silk before the relaxer. I just can't figure out what is going wrong. Do other 4B fines have problems with texlaxed hair? I wonder if I just need to relax it straighte. Thank you so much for advice. I have been trying to follow LHCF advice since last Jul and my hair still isn't better. I admit that maybe ever three weeks I make about three small curls on the side with a curling iron if they've flattened out but that's not the hair that breaks really.

i really cant think of anything. maybe ur hair is over processed? thats the only thing i cant think of. is elasta DRC 15 a protein conditioner? and maybe u should sit under a dryer with ur conditioner to let it penetrate. if not try aphogee or emergencee and use a moisturizing conditioner after wards. i highly suggest u go to the sticky thread at the top and click on both of the breakage threads. i heard people got results from mizani H20 night treatment. i had chronic breakage for 2 years straight so i know how frustrating it is. dont give up. Sounds like you might need a good trim and/or more moisture. Cassia treatments are great, but can make your hair kinda brittle if you use them too much. I would say lay off those treatments for about 3 weeks and just focus on moisture moisture moisture.
Personally for my hair, especially after cassia and yogurt treatments, dove intense repair mixed with glycerin and almond oil and fantasia sparkle lights gel just would not be enough.

Also, do you think it is time for a nice trim?

I wonder if you are handling your hair too much. It sounds like to you are putting stress on it by twisting and rolling so often while its wet. Also, is there alcohol in that gel? I never heard of the Elasta DPC-15. What is it? I've used the Elasta DPR11 numerous times but never heard of this other one. Is it a protein treatment? Also, texlaxing may be a problem. My hair was breaking a lot partially due to underprocessing. I decided to relax my hair straight at this last relaxer and its doing much better. Also, since you are using a no-lye relaxer you have to be very careful to moisturize a lot! Those relaxers leave the cuticle open or lifted or something and that can cause breakage if you don't know how to properly maintain your hair.

I hope someone else can offer more than I did but my suggestions would be to not handle your hair so much. Maybe you should only redo your twists one a week.

thanks so much. i did mean elasta DPR 11. I think it may be the underprocessing and I may have to process straight although that would mean relaxing more often. Is it bad to handle hair when wet? I thought the wet set was reccommended. I don't manipulate it very much. if one goes straight, does the hair require more care? it's been about 7 years since i've been fully relaxed (i came out of braids about 8 months ago) also what kind of moisturizers do you reccommend? i thought perhaps i had product build up so i stopped using them so much. now i have surge woogee cream, but i'm a little scared of it. oh, i also always prepoo with an oil treatment overnight before i wash each week. thank you, thank you, thank you.

Has your hair been breaking? the whole time its been texlaxed (7 years). If not then its not the texlaxing. Your hair is most fragile when wet but if you aren't noticing breakage when its wet then maybe that's not the case. Just be careful. I'm wondering if there is alcohol in your gel. I don't know. I still battle with what the best moisturizers are. Right now I use either Elasta QP Oil Recovery Moisturizer, B&B w/castor oil, or Qhemet Heavy Cream Olive Oil. Some ladies in another thread recommend baggying your whole head...sleep with a plastic shower cap over your head and tie it down with a satin wrap. Apparently, this is very moisturzing. I wish I had more to offer but breakage is so hard to pinpoint.

I suffer from breakage quite often. I'm still new to this hair care thing. What's helped me a lot is S-curl and ORS Olive Oil Creme for moisture twice a day. I then seal the moisture with olive oil or coconut oil. This has helped a lot. Also, doing protein treatments on dry hair as a prepoo has helped me. The breakage hasn't stopped completely, but it is better.

I hope that helps.

I am also fine haired and my hair as well as skin is super senasitive. The least little thing will cause my hair to shed and break. I just rediscovered Nexxus keraphix. It works miracles on breakage and shedding.

Even if you use cassia you can't neglect the use of protien.

I personally like a soft protien like Nexxus Keraphix as opposed to a harder one every 4-6 weeks.

I also love the effects of cassia, but I use keraphix like midweek so I don't neglect the protien needs of my hair.

Also the fact that you're do make a habit of cowashing means you're going to manipulate your hair a little more often. Because I also work out, I had that tendency to overmanipulate my hair, so in order to not undermine the growth I was getting, I stopped combing every 4 days.

It may not be that extreme for you, but you need to find a way to not manipulate your hair as much, especially when you have fine hair.

One more thing; if you bun, take a look at your technique, because if you continually bun your hair and put stress in the same place, you may find you have breakage in the area all the time. So switching how you bun may also be a good idea.

Phyto relaxer can be a little drying for some people, so do make sure you're getting enough moisture to your hair, and just make sure to clarify once in a while.

I have fine hair too.. and when I used Pyto index 1 and cassia, I had a lot of breakage.. , my hair was extremely dry:perplexed I am texlaxed with design essentials now, lye and stopped using the cassia.. most breakage has stopped,, I keep my hair very moisturized now,, and the dryness is gone.

Yeah, it sounds like you are doing a lot of wet manipulation to your hair. Why don't you try braids for a while, following C&G method?
