I am like, sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo tempted to chop off a few strands in the middle of my head to see what my true hair type is. I have about an inch and a half of new growth, but I can't really get the gist of it's curl pattern.

SEE WHAT YOU ALL HAVE DONE TO ME!!! :lachen:

LOL!!!! I've been tempted to do that too but I've decided not to. If you really must chop a section, I think somewhere closer to the back of your head will be better..

I say go for it. I've done that before in the past. But I am a habitual cutter. lol

I cut from the side of my head and it was never ever noticeable.

i say dont do it.. just look at it this way..
different areas of your head have different curl patters so even if you DO cut a section from the middle it can be JUST that section and the front, back, and sides can look completely different

I have 4 different textures on my head so if I had cut a "piece" in one spot, it could have been very misleading.

Are you transitioning to natural?

On the contrary, I think you should cut off all the relaxed hair and rock that cute little twa. It's just like on ANTM where everyone cries when their hair is cut, but then they look better!

Haven't been transitioning or going natural... However, I do stretch for months at a time. The new growth at my roots seems pretty consistent all over, but like a pp stated, that could still be misleading.

I feel a transitioning challenge coming on for me!

^^what she said^^

I have about 4 or 5 diff curl patterns and the hair on my head behaves very differently in different places. It also behaves differently depending on the style. I honestly don't think it will help a whole lot to tell you about the true nature of your hair. So...

STOP!:spinning:

go ahead and do it. i cut some pieces in the front just a few days ago. i have pics in my fotki. i've cut pieces in the middle and the back a while ago too. now i can't find the one in the crown of my head cuz its lost in the jungle of new growth lol. i'll never find it.

Cut, cut, cut. I cut a chunk of hair on the side of my head and I love it. I play with it all the time. I can hide it well. It's only a small section, so it won't hurt much. I know, I didn't stop you.
