PLEASE HELP ME!

I am completely new to this forum, so please bear with me.
I am leaving for Trinidad and Tobago in less than 2 months. I am going to be in a tropical setting, and even though I do not want to swim, the humidty from the island makes my hair into one big puff ball.
I put in micro braids last year and took them out after 2 weeks. I hate the way braid feel on me, I hate taking them out. I hate how my hair feels afterwards (personal pet peeves). Needless to say, I am not going that route again.
I was thinking about a weave but I need some help. I want to go to a hair stylist and have them examine my hair. Right now it is relaxed. Will a weave be too much stress???

Anyone have any ideas what I should do to my hair. I want to look GOOD everyday and the puff ball does not look good.
Not sure if this is of any importance, but my hair is shoulder length

p.s. Can anyone recommend a good stylist in NY. Currently I go to a Dominican shop and while they do a great job, I don't know if they would know what to do with my hair for this trip

I don't know of any stylists in your area, but I am sure a weave would be good. I don't get them anymore, but when I did get them, I worried less about how my hair look. Your hair will be corn-rowed, so if you don't mind that I am sure it will be great and your hair will be protected.

I went to Jamaica for just a week and had a weave. On the hair that was left out, and I could tell a difference. The sun lightened it and the salt water or something made it drier.

I think a weave is a great option if you don't like braids.

Black Hair media may have posts and reviews about stylists in your area.

Thank you so much for the info. I went to the black hair media site and I could not find a link to beauty salons in my area. Where is it exactly? Thanks again!
