I would politely walk out and find me another stylist who would use products I like. It's my hair and my money. I mean, I wasn't walking in there with strange, foreign and unknown products. I like nexxus and would take those. I use either motions or affirm relaxers and would take those.

Ummm, what kinda research does THAT require? :lachen:Anywho, if a stylist won't do what I want, and that includes using products I want, they lose me as a client. I've spent too much time, energy, money and emotion on getting my hair long and heathy and no sylist gonna set me back. :yep:

Anywho, that's why haven't visited one in over a year now . . . .

What happened was I wanted to use Phytospecific for my relaxer and he told me he has heard of it but really doesn't know much about it. I guess it is dif. when you are talking about relaxers. IDK.

But in many ways, he is a good stylist. There are some things I don't like though.

I asked him to use a heat protectant because he blow dryed and flat ironed my hair. He told me that since it was an ion dryer and a ceramic flat iron, it didn't use much heat. But I am thinking to myself, "It still is heat though, right?":spinning: He used the protectant but not as much as I would've liked.

Now I am just worrying about going to him for my touch up next year in June after not being their for so long. I don't want him to cut my progress off. I mean, if I am not using heat, manipulating my hair, and moisturizing, why should my hair need to be cut? Most people say every 6 weeks because after blow drying, flat ironing, brushing/combing and not moisturizing your hair will need to be cut. I don't think that rule applys to everyone but for some reason stylists think everyone's hair need to be trimmed 1/2 inch every six weeks.

What do you think I should say or do you think he will automatically see my hair is healthy?

I took phyto to them too and they used it on my hair after they warned that they never used before and I said I was willing to take the risk. I mean at some point, a sylist must try new products, right?

No one, NO ONE, cuts my hair without permission. Just say no! If YOU don't think you need a trim, don't get one, regardless of what your stylist says. As we have learned on this board, stylist can be your hair worst enemy and they must be watched, checked and rebuked, if necessary! Listen, it's your hair and your money, insist on what you think is best, don't rely on some stylist to do the right thing for your hair. If half of them knew what they were doing, there would be no need for this board. Enuf said . . .

My sentiments exactly! I can't stand scissor happy stylists. My stylist always listens to what I want and that's what I love about her. She knows my goals so I never have a problem with her. In fact, she has NEVER cut my hair. She has dusted my ends and given me a couple of trims in the past but never cut it.

Ok, he will have to listen to me and I will tell him, "I don't want my hair cut.":yep:

The ladies are exactly right about not trying to comb it. The only time I normally comb ng is when I do my normal wash and set. For me rollersets are the best thing to handle ng and then finger comb it. I just completed a 14 wk stretch coming off of my cruise. While on the cruise, I did a cond wash and braid out. Big mistake. This was the worse mess for my stylist to try and apply my relaxer through on Friday. My scalp began to burn while he was still working it in. I tried finger combing through it and applying some leave in cond that morning hoping to make it easier for him to work through, but it did not work. Long story short, I will NEVER do another braid out close to relaxer time. It will be rollersets from now on. My entire head looked like it was natural.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions, and for hi-jacking my thread!! Just playin. Anyway, I guess I'm basically gonna try not to comb thru my new growth. I'm thinkin about just doing some flat twists on my head with curls or somethin. That way my hair will kinda already be parted. What do you guys think?

I remember Macherieamour saying on her website that every person has a stretching threshold, and the OP may have reached hers.

I was thinking the same and I have heard this from someone before...not sure if it was Macherieamour or not. I do know that I have a threshold and it's around 10 weeks right now. I can not go longer than that without having a lot of shedding, tangling and breakage when I wash or try to do anything with it. Yes, I get A TON of growth but I also lose a ton of hair. It's just not worth it to go longer to me. I do know that everyones threshold is different however:yep:.
