Hi guys, I'm a newbie to pin-curling but I've been doing it a lot recently, not necessarily for the curls but moreso to give my hair more life. Mwedzi had asked if I had pics so I decided to take some yesterday.

I have fallen in love with pin curls because of how much body even imperfect pin-curls (I just grab pieces of hair) can give you.

Your pin curls are so neat and love the results.

I'm a pin curl stan, but I use the double-pronged silver clips. Those seem to prevent those random bent pieces.

Wow, they look so neat. The end result was fabulous. You're gonna have to give more details.

Aren't pin curls the best thing ever?! You get the best volume and lovely, fluffly curls. And they are a safe way to wear your hair to bed at night.

Can't believe I slept on pin-curls for so long. I admit since I'm still learning it takes me a while and my process is a bit clumsy. I take the very end and start rolling making sure the end stays tucked within the rest of the hair. When I'm all the way up I pin the curl flat on top of the hair - I know some ladies pin the curl under the root but that's hard for me to do. Hope the explanation wasn't confusing.

I swear by pin curls! I use U-pins to secure mine...no bent pieces or lines in the morning. Your hair looks lovely, OP!

They look good!
How do you do them?!
Mine always have randomly bent up bits, no matter what I do.

Hey Chaos butterfly, try wrapping them around a roller and then turning the roller on it's side and sliding the hair off and down to form the pin curl. This should allow for a smooth result.

I love Katt's idea of u-shaped pins to secure, also. I may try that when I begin wearing my hair out.

Oh, one way I love getting loose curls is two buns in the back of my head stacked one on top of the other. I did it by accident the first time, but I oiled my hair for the night and did a low bun and my hair fell in beautiful soft waves in the morning. I had lightly secured it with a satin scrunchi.

Halee, I don't see why not. I know ladies with short bobs that have been pin-curling forever.

Sheba - I'm gonna try the rollers - maybe then I won't have to keep the curl so many times.
