I am ten months post relaxer and I have a few inches of new growth. Sunday was the first time that I flat ironed my hair since January. I also Henna'd for the first time in about two years.

I didn't dry my hair like I would have preferred (no time! I usually airdry in braids since I dislike rollersets right now. So I took out my braids and just sat under the dryer. BIG mistake! My natural hair curled and kinked up. :nono: ) I cut 1-2 inches in some spots.

I flat ironed. And I just couldnt get my natural hair straight like I normally can. So on Sunday, I went to bed with bantu knots. It was a fail Monday morning, but I wore it anyway. Lastnight I slept in purple flexirods- this normally gives me good results, but not this time. When I walked out of the house I had a MULLET and tails on the side because the kinkier textures shrunk more than the looser textures and the textures are not evenly distributed.

30 minutes ago, I was so disgusted I cut another 1-2 inches. I feel pleased, but I feel self conscious about my ponytail and my hair looks so much shorter because it is so damned FLUFFY now! :wallbash:

P.S. Ignore those random strands at the end. They were taken care of.

Your hair looks nice. Do you think the henna prevented you from get your flatironed straight as you like?

Thank you, ms.blue. I guess it's a possibility, but I doubt it.

My hair felt so moisturized and strong after the henna. I mixed it with paprika, Apple cider vinegar, cellulose, a few drops of profectiv mega growth oil, and water. I went under the dryer for about an hr and a half and then DC'd with Nexxus humectress. My hair felt like butter until I dried it all foolishly. :nono:

Did you try deep conditioning pre-flat ironing.
That helps me get/keep my hair very straight for a longer period of time.

mjdaisy, I did the Nexxus Humectress. It isnt deep (time wise), but it is more than the average instant conditioner.

Henna did that to me too once CinnaMiz. I never figured out what I did wrong that time.

I do remember doing a moisturizing DC 2x that week to get back to normal.
